yeah, that in-your-face thingy can get a bit harsh. that could be alleviated by wiring out of phase or getting more "passive" tweeters. but i like how you and sweeden mounted your tweets.

Lightbulb

I just bought my JL Audio components over the weekend. I think I'm going to go with the door mount for my tweeter as opposed to the sails. It should provide better imaging and it looks pretty clean.

The color is pretty close, but the tweeters are true black, while the door is Mazda's "off-black" - but thanks, and I agree - Infinity's "I-Mount" mounting system is fantastic - makes for a very clean and adjustable install. Plus, these are silk tweets, and they sound real nice.

Something has happened to the woofers, though - I bought some Rockford Fosgate Fanatic Q woofers to replace them - these things are BIG! They are supposed to be 6.5", but they seem to be bigger than the standard 6.5" speaker - almost like the CONE is 6.5"!. Plus, they'll take 100 watts RMS, 200 peak - yikes! Once I get my new sub amp, I'll be feeding 500 to the sub and 90 per side to the front comps - things are gonna get LOUD!

I've come quite a long way from my original philosophy with the audio in my P5, which was "bargain equipment: new deck, small amp and modest sub." I've gone from deck power to four new but cheap door speakers and about 150-200 watt sub/amp combo, to pushing damn near 750 watts RMS with two amps, and deck powered rear speakers. PLus, the Rockford amps are well underrated - I think I can easily hit 1000 watts.

How the hell did this happen!?!?!?!

One of the fun things about car audio is playing around with different stuff. The Nissan I use as a sound platform has had at leat four major set ups in it to date.
I set off down one road and always seem to end up some place other than my intended destination, but I have a blast on the journey!!

i dunno about that. i'd find myself looking around the house so i can sell it on ebay so i can buy those new subs or amps. i think if my brother and i weren't so close, he'd probably find things missing from time to time. lol
