Strut Tower Bar Paint Question

I am taking my Pro to the body shop on the 26th to get a deer gash out of the rear side. I was wondering since I just bought a strut tower bar and want it to match the body color, what should I tell these guys about painting it. I wanna make the bar silver. SO should I tell em to powdercoat it? Im confused what powdercoating is. Can they use the same paint that they are using to paint my car? Stupid question, I guess. Can someone clear this up for me. Thanks a lot!

P.S. How much would cost to get it painted, ballpark figure?

powder coating would be best. It's a process of chemicals and electricity that bond the color to the metal. Very durable, but costs more than regular paint.

just guessing, but
pwdrcoat = ~$25-30
reg paint = ~$15-20

Awesome, thanks man. Do they clear coat it too, or do I have to specify that?

I shouldn't cost you too much since they will have the paint mixed up anyway. I am a painter for an auto body shop. I painted mine for free but it shouldn't cost you much because they are going to have some paint left over. Just have the strut bar ready to paint so they can't charge you labor for it. To get it ready scuff it up with real fine sandpaper, 600 grit or higher.

I hope this helps!!!
