Speaker Sizes '01 Pro ES Sedan
Hi Guys,
I want to start out by saying that I did do a search, and I've been reading posts for the last hour. I've also been to the Crutchfield Web site, and they told me that they don't have any speakers for my car.
So here's a few questions:
1) What size speakers are in my car? (I think 5X7 front & 6X9 rear deck - but I have not seen it decisively stated.)
2) What brands/models are known to fit behind the stock grilles without any modification/tweaking/grinding? (I'm looking to spend in the $120/pr range)
3) What brands/models are known NOT to fit behind stock grilles w/o change?
Again, thanks for the help on what is otherwise a very simple topic.
One More question:
If I'm going to amp my stock HU, how do I get the output from the HU to the amp, and back to my speaker wires? In other words, if I understand how this is wired, is it going to force me to splice into my wiring harness & void warranty?

2001 and 2002 are pretty much the same. I have 2002 ES.
I think for the front door and rear deck, even the 2000 model probably uses the same speaker sizes.
I use 6x8 in the front door and 6x9 in the rear deck. Crutchfield says they don't have it available probably because they didn't pull apart a 2001-2002 Protege sedan yet. They have however pulled apart a Protege 5 because of its popularity. Protege 5 uses the same front speakers as the sedans of the same model year.
Hope this helps.
