Question Removing the Side Vent hole ?

How do you remove the front of the side vent hole ? I thought about painting them the same silver as my center console !

Thanks

You don't. The driver's side is part of the dash, and the passenger one would require the entire dash to be removed just to get at the screws.

I want to do the same thing - but my idea is to find a place that will sell just the vent rings from a stick-on dash kit - then paint the rings my own color and install them.

Only problem is, I can't find a place to sell just the rings - they all will only sell the whole dash kit, which can be well over $200.

If you like this idea, and happen to find a source for the rings at a good price, be sure to let me know!

But forget about taking out the stock ones.

Even the front part can't be removed ??? I tought it was just a clip or something like that ! I know that there is 2 clips under each of them, but even if I push on them the front dont move !!! So there is no possibility at all ???

Sure, there is a possibility - if it is worth it to you to take the whole dash out of the car to paint these two little parts. That's the only way you'll get the passenger side one out - accessing the screws is impossible with the dash in place.

And take a close look at the one on the drivers' side - you'll see it's not a separate piece - the "trim ring" is part of the dash, not part of the vent. You won't find a "seam" between them. So it does not come out at all.

I have removed the passenger side vent to install the aluminium trim. It has two small clips at the sides and requires a delicate prying with a flat head screwdriver. Unfortunately, the driver side vent does not come out (one piece dash), I had to install it as is, on the dash. Slightly inconvenience, but no jobs too big, no jobs too small, I've done it all (almost).

00-pro-lx, touring pkg., 5-speed, black, tints, fogs, clear lights, lowered, meshes, alum. int., bodykit, & more, spicey looking.

Cant you just tape them off and lay plastic around the rest of the area and paint the vents? I want to paint my vents and part of my dash white, the vents i'll just tape off but there is a part of the dash around the cluster i can easily (i hope) take off to paint.

Znole is right - I Checked my p5 shop manual - the passenger vent is just clips and can be popped off without removing the dash

The driver side DOES come out, but for this you MAY need to remove the dash as it is bolted to the dash. Why that one is bolted in place and the other is just clips is beyond me...
