Once again, Speaker questions...
Ok, I know that I want to put 6.5" speakers all around. Now, since the factory speakers in the Pro5 are rated at 25 watts, how high can I make the replacements so that the headunit will power them ok and still sound good? Any thoughts...thanks...

Look at the efficiency rating of the speakers you are looking at - the higher the better. Don't worry too much about the power handling rating of the speaker, just make sure that it is at least 25W RMS, which appears to be roughly what the stock deck is good for.
Also, don't be afraid to ask the people at the audio shop what sort of power requirements the speakers that interest you have. They usually will be pretty good at telling you what speakers do well with deck power versus what speakers need a good amp to work properly.
As an example, most MB Quart speakers have an efficiency rating of 87-88 dB, which is fairly low for a coaxial speaker, and they do need a good amplifier to drive them properly. Plus, they are sensitive to distortion, which there is more of with a factory deck than a good amp. I used to run a set with deck power, and was never happy with them, until I put a good Alpine amp with them. The difference was absolutely amazing.
Just my 2 cents. I hope it's helpful.
Dale.

If you are leaving your stock deck, go for the highest sensitivity rating you can find - in the 90s is pretty good. Higher sensitivity ratings mean more volume from less power.
Most high-sensitivity aftermarket speakers will work well with stock deck power. They'll make a big difference, and you can keep them if you decide to get an aftermarket deck, most of which have more than adequate power for pushing good speakers.
My opinion is that the average listener should save the amp for the subwoofer. There is just no need to get a separate amp for the door speakers, unless you buy speakers that need that kind of power. Go for the high sensitivity rating, and only amplify a sub. It's also less strain on your car's electrical system to only run one amp.
Unless, of course, you are TRYING to shake your car to pieces.....

Good call. Unless you got the dough and the dedication to go the whole way, there's no reason to get a separate amp for the speakers. That can always wait until after you feel the bass is overpowering the music.
