Another newbie questions-- rear speaker wiress

Im not sure if anybody knows this, i have searched thru the posts and found that the Rubber boot on the Rear Door that carries the speaker wires into the door is a harness. I do not want to drill thru the harness itself.

I want to splice into the rear speaker line near the carpet before it goes up the door pillar. Does anybody know the colors the speaker wires (left and right) are near the carpet.

Are they the same color near the carpet as the speaker wires from the head unit.

Green - Rear Right (-)
Green/Orange - Rear Right (+)

Brown/White - Rear Left (+)
Brown - Rear Left (-)

I just pulled the door sills off the drivers and passenger side and looked through the number of wires that passed through it.

When looking thru those wires on the left side i found the Brown/White and Brown wire (?? Rear Left + and - ??). On the right side the Green/Orange and Green wire (?? Rear Right + and - ??). I am gonna splice into them to see if they are the speaker wires. I am assuming so since they are on the correct sides the wiring diagram said it was from the head unit according to astolfo's website. I will give an update later.

Well, I finished the install. The lines that run down the door sill are the speaker wires that run to the rear doors in a P5. I think this is a much easier way to run wires to a Line Output Converter than having to run it in a door and having to take off the rear door panels. No alternator noise, but i do get a "pop" from the subwoofer if i do not turn off the radio before i start the car up.

There was no need to take out the Head Unit with tools or remove any Door Panels to access wires. Here is what i did:

1.) Take off the front door sills on the appropriate side and find the black wire loom that runs under the sill.

2.) Now look for the appropriate wires.

3.) In my case i used the driver side speaker wires since i wanted to run a bridged subwoofer and only needed one sides speaker inputs. For the drivers side, find the brown/white and brown wires. The wires are thin.. 18 guage i think.

***Now if you have a LOC that requires speaker inputs from the left and right sides, go to the passenger side and find the green/orange and green wires. ***

Driver's Side:
Brown/White = Left Rear (+)
Brown = Left Rear (-)

Passenger's Side:
Green/Orange = Right Rear (-)
Green = Right Rear (+)

// Wire colors in passenger door sill are opposite from HU -->Thanks to SirNuke and P5Fretless for finding this out

4.) Use a Tap splice connector or just plainly splice into the appropriate wire.

5.) Run the new wire to the LOC or to the speaker level inputs on an amplifier. Thats it.

There you have it, its sounds awesome and i now have some UMPH in my system.

Hope this helps someone,

good work....one thing you WILL notice if you ever do take off the door panels and replace the rear door speakers....the wires DO change colors once into the doors....at least they do on MY P-5...and the really odd thing is...both the right and the left rear doors wires where they attach to the speakers are the SAME COLOR! LOL but they do change somewhere...as I did continuity checks between the harness at the front of the car and the wires where they attach to the speakers in the door to ensure which were left and which were right in the harness up front.

Thanks really to you Sir Nuke. It was your previous posts about the Head Unit Pinouts that stated the speaker wires were different in the door themselves than those that ran from the deck that made me go looking for wires.

Thanks again,
