Deck sounds good. Double check your speaker sizes. I'm not positive, but you may have 5x7's all around (since Ford and Mazda are sharing platforms). If you do, DON'T cut 'em for 6x9's. If you're adding subs, let the bass come from there. Good 5x7's crossed over with a good deck or amp will be sweet.

800 bucks

deck 350
front speakers 120

You've got 5x7's in front, 6 1/2's in the rear doors. You can put 6 1/2's all around, but you can also do a budget setup and not change the speakers just yet. $800 isn't much. You can get an Alpine CD player starting at $199, JL Audio 10" sub in box for $169, Eclipse 36201 200 watt amp for $199, wiring for around $45 or so and $80 labor and be out for $800 or so inc. tax. I work at Alton's Audio in Goldsboro, NC and that is what I would suggest to anyone walking in the door. You can always add new door speakers later since the factory ones should sound at least a little better with a new head unit. Just depends on how nice you want it. Here's my list

Eclipse CD8051 CD player
Eclipse 32440 4 ch. amp
Eclipse 33240 2 ch amp
Eclipse 88120 Sub
Diamond Audio Motorsport 6 1/2s all around

Sounds perfect, but would cost around $2300 or so to do. If I were you, I would just take that $800 and invest in a good head unit, and maybe good door speakers, and just build it a piece at a time.

By the way, Taxmasta, what are you talking about a "JL audio class D 900?" There's no such thing. You can have a 500/1, and if God's on your side, a 1000/1 (which shouldn't be out til after Christmas according to my JL Rep.)

6-1/2" speakers will fit into all the doors - with minor mods to the front. You can either drill a couple of screw holes to mount the larger speaker in the front door, or get a pair of those re-sizing plates that will mount with no new holes drilled - any good shop should have them for $15-$20.

Think about component tweeters for the front. You can mount the tweets in the black triangle plastic piece near the mirrors in the front door. The speaker placement in the P5/MP3 just ain't that great, so some "chirpers" will definitely do ya' some good. I'll be doing mine soon - you can find plenty of owners who have done major installs already - learn from their triumphs and mistakes.

well

in my world, i have no problem cutting costs with some good used equipment...don't forget to check for some

you can also check e-bay for some deals if nothing seems to pop-up in your area...and talk to some of the audio dealers

i picked up a kick *** pioneer deck one year from an installer for dirt cheap, and he installed it for me as well. then the place he worked for cut me a sweet deal on the subs, door and rear speakers.

it also helps to know people that like to upgrade...they buy something and want to sell 6 mnths later

keep in mind when replacing the front 5x7 with 6.5s, (or replacing any stock opening with a smaller speaker) that the open areas around the speaker are covered. The front and rear of the speaker should be as seperated as possible. Silicone, dum-dum (it's like a real sticky tar looking sealant, but doesn't get your fingers all black) an ABS or wood mounting plate, just something to plug up those open areas...

by not doing so, the sound quality is drastically reduced.
