How many Boston's did you get to replace your 3 JL's?? Do you like them better? My boyfriend had 4 Boston's in his Chevy S10 with a Cadence Amp pushing all four of them and it sounded awesome!!! Tons of bass and really good sound quality. I have a JL 12 and after hearing his Boston's I think the JL's sound like ****. Just personal opinion though

THE bostons really do SOUND worlds better then the Jl's .

The Jls I think are more for SPl where as the bostons are for SQ.

As for that Bazooka Tube How does that sound??

It all depends on the application. Three JL 12W3's was put in that car for on thing and it wasn't SQ. With the proper Amps that would literly rattle the trunk off the car. They put one JL 10W7 (almost no one has heard these; goto a JL dealer) in my protege5 without asking and told me to get in. He played some Disturbed and it soudned awesome. Then he put in Nelly and cranked it up and I thought they squeezed 4 15"s in there. I asked what was in my trunk and he said one 10". That one 10" is $500 and is ******* awesome. I want one so bad, but can't justify upgrading yet as mine sounds awesome. The bostons are good speakers however they are a completely different driver than the 12W3. The guy who had three 12" JLW3s and then switched to boston definetly changed his mind about what he wanted to listen to and what he wanted from his audio system.

Yes this is true , I wanted nice tight accurate sound.

If you say the W7 does this then it must have very good Sq , I know the W3's didnt have good Sq.

Maybe with the new W7 they improved that part at the same time making the SPL ENORMOUS.

The W7 Need Tons of power thoe, At least like 1000 watts of clean power.

The W3's I had in WERE very LOUD , Had no SQ what so ever , Everything would just rattle.

The bostons I have are Accurate Tight and punchy like music is suppose to be.

It all depends on what you want. I want MUSIC not SPL.

thats my point....you had no intention of sound quality with three 12W3. I couldn't be happier with the SQ with one 12W3. There is a thread with links to info on the W7s that I made. W3s are known for their awesome SQ though. I think that 3 was overboard if you were looking for SQ. Use whatever you want though, but if you had used one of the 12w3s with that same amp, in the right box, it would've sounded great. Car audio is all about matching the components to the buyers listening tastes. Products are geared towards certaing music types and tastes. Use what makes you happy. I hope you got good money for the subs though, cuz you had $800 worth of subs (and box)

I'm a firm believer in 10" subs for sound quality.

Back in 95, i helped design a box for 3 10w6 with our local rep from JL, powered by an Orion HCCA amp. This box blew our minds....clear, clean and POUNDING!

JL subs are great and they are competition proven to win.

I currently run x3 10" MTX T5000 subs, powered by a Directed Audio 600d amp. Not the greatest subs, but the price was so right...plan to upgrade to Directed Audio's CompX subs.

I've changed the amp on the right to a Directed 500 model amp. and moved it all to the back of the seats to save weight.

I too believe 10's will give you the most accurate sound production.

As far as 12's they will give more SPL and Boomy music , for Rap Reggae Etc.

Im sticking with 10's from now on.

You want big???

This past summer me and some friends installed 4 12" Cadence Competion Subs in the back of my best buds, Hyundia Tiburon! We had to build the box in the car so we could get the right amount of airspace. Yet he still has a usable back seat, I still can't figure out how we fit 4 in the that small trunk but I'm starting to think the combination of Summer heat and lots of beer helped... I'll post some pics of it tomorrow hopefully.

I have a friend who back in the day used to goto "bass-offs" and he had x4 12" Rockfords in the back of a 1969 VW bug. His family is into bugs. They have 5 and the two that are his are bad ***. One is chopped 4 inches and has about 300WHP (that in a car that weighs 1750lbs) and it will surprise some corvetter owners. They hate to see bugs tail lights...
