kenwood kdc-x769 - anyone have an experience with this HU?
hi everyone --
i'm comptemplating purchasing this HU to replace the stock 6-disc...
- does anyone have this unit?
- does the unit fit easily?
i've searched crutchfield and other sites to see if it is an E-Z fit, but cannot confirm this is the case...
any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Is it a single DIN CD player or double DIN CD (the size of two like in GM cars)? I know with the single DIN, it would fit with a dash kit (get the Scoshe, it looks much better than the Metra kit). As for the double DIN, I really don't know. I have seen people have a HU and the flip out TV in place of their stock HU, but I don't know how difficult it is to do that (if that Kenwood is a double DIN). You can also email Crutchfield and ask whether you would have to do a lot of modifications or not. They are pretty good at emailing you back in a matter of 1-2 days max.

Well i just ordered the x769. It will be going in this thursday. For the price the Kenwood Excelon series just plain old kicks ***. If no one else has any input by then I'll post some pics and keep you informed.

I paid 350 for the unit. Now i know that i could get it cheaper but all the ebay deals don't fare well with warranties. The place i deal with is very good and they do a lot of work for me. The unit has just about everything i was looking for 5.0V pre-outs, Built in cross overs, etc. So overall i think it is a well balanced unit.

Thats a pretty good price, but i m content with my headunit now. What i need now is some front speakers. Jl-XR 6.5 components are what i want to put up front. Now a good deal on them would be the ticket right now

Congrats on the new HU! I've owned Kenwood stuff since the mid 80's and can't complain. My HU is in the shop now being repaired($115-4 years old). Sure they break, but it seems that they are easy and inexpensive to repair. Cheaper than a new HU!!
