I finally decided to install my speakers in my P5 on thursday. I had 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa 52.1i 5.25 coax speakers. I put them in after some improvising the install which went very well, no depth issues and no rattles. Currently I have my speakers powered by my head unit ( Pioneer DEH-7300). I get much much more sound out of my two front speakers than I do the rear ones and the rear left one is really quiet. All of the polarities are correct and the wires are on there really good. Could it be the amp in my head unit or something else? I was thinking about getting a Pioneer GM-X564 which would hopefully clear up this problem. Thanks

My guess would be it's your head unit just not having enough strength and clarity to power all those. No matter what HU you use, you're not going to get great results, esp on any decent speakers. Did you sound mat your doors at all?

Thanks... No I didn't sound mat at all, if I start gettin rattles or anything I will, however all seems swell right now. Guess I am getting an amp. Is that Pioneer any good. I can get it for 140 and I thinks thats a damn good deal for a 4x50 RMS. Any other good amps that are in that price range. Thanks

I'm not real sure about the Pioneer amps....that is an awesome price though. I have a Soundstream Rubicon waiting to be installed in my Pro. One thing you may want to ponder is getting like a 75 x 2 channel amp and power your rear set off your HU since they don't really provide your main stage and quality. Just a thought, I don't know your situation or music habits. :-)

well what type of speakers do you have in the rear , are they factory , aftermarket , 1 way , 2 way , 3 way , or 4 way .
If you have factory speakers in the back ,, then that is most likely why

there are a lot of people who would say ditch the rear fill. personally, i like my setup cause it gives a more complete sound for everyone in the car. however, for imaging purposes and whatnot, you really don't need rear speakers if your frontstage is good. and as for amps, you may run into problems amping just the back speakers so i dunno if you'd wanna do that. try this little test b4 you buy anything: fade your sounds to the front and listen to see if you hear anything "different" from both back and front. if you want more than just frontstage, then i would suggest amping all your speakers.

um, do you have a sub? that will help determine if you need rear fill or not.

Nope no sub as of now and I don't really plan on getting one. It sounds good up front however I would like to have nice sound all around. Any word on that pioneer amp.

I don't know about the Pioneer amp, but I just recieved the JBL P80.4 from Just Amps it is under monthly specials for $149.99 ($166.63 with shipping). It's 4 x 40. I just ordered speakers so I have yet to install it.

I'm having the problem that the sound quality from the rear is really poor, sounds something like a those portable $10 AM/FM radios from Kmart... the fronts sound great.

I have no idea why though...

first of all, did u put both pairs in ? or did u just replace the front?
because
i had previously replaced my front speakers, and i havent got around to buying some for the rear on my car. since my front speakers require more power than the rear, my rear sound a little louder and they are louder than the front. but if you replaced them all. then you just have to mess around with you fader on your headunit. they just migt be faded more towards the back than the front. Check that out and tell me if u have any luck

I put infinity references all around in my car, and i'm getting all my base from the back and hardly any up front. Im starting to wonder if i mixed up the polarties up front or something, cause it's pretty drastic. I'm thinging it's either that, something wierd that my HU is doing, or somehow the staging just naturaly acts like there's more bass from the back.

I have messed with every single possible setting in my head unit. It is definetly not fading because with it all to the back its very very quiet compared to all up front. All of my polarties are correct, its rather easy to tell if they are backwards (cones go in rather than out) and the wiring is pretty good. I was actually surprised, people said that the stock wire is micro thin however it was thicker than what I was used to from volvo. Oh and just to clear this up, I installed all four speakers, two identical pairs, one pair up front, one pair rear. They are infinity kappa 52.1i which can handle much more power than my head unit can dish out which might be the problem. Douggie you sound like you have a similar problem to me. Thanks

hmmm, i'd say amp both front and rear. pioneer is okay, but i'd go with the jbl amp posted earlier. for $160, you can't go wrong cause jbl's amps are underrated and will give you more than advertised. but pioneer amps are okay as well. it seems that you won't be pushing your sounds hard so any amp should do. and i know you've already dropped the spkrs in, but i would suggest swapping the back for some 6.5's to give you more bass since you won't be getting a sub. just my $0.02...
