E-Brake Question

I know this is going to sound stupid, but how do you change the E-Brake boot and handle in the Pro5? How does it come off so the new one can go on. Any1? Thanks...

the 2002 P-5 doesn't really have a boot for the E-brake...however if you are refering to the part of the console that has the little rubber slot that it moves up and down THROUGH....all you do is stick your fingers through it and pull it off...it just snaps in place...no screws or anthing.....not sure about the handle though..never looked at it that close.

when i first toyed with this, it was kinda a bitch. first, a friend of mine bought me some cheap *** POS Pep Boys/Autozone E-brake. We went back, cut off the brake handle (we could find no easier way to do this), and left the bottom part there (cuz we had no boot). Well, when we tried to put the new handle on, it wouldn't fit over, the opening was too small. So, we worked furiously through the night, trying to bore out handle to fit over. Well, one of my friends had the GENIOUS idea of hitting the bitch with a hammer...which only bent the cheap POS out of shape. So another friend bought a new one (same kind). So then when this time my dad and i tried, my dad tried brute force, which i told him was not a viable solution, since we wanted to be able to adjust the handle if it wasn't sitting right. well, he hammered it on there too (when i wasn't looking of course) and got it stuck. finally, but sheer luck, we were able to move it around to where it fit right, but couldn't get the top piece on, and it had a little gap where we had no boot. So i drove with it like that for about a week, then i said "**** THIS ****!" and ordered me some MOMO stuff. I got a CF handle from them that's a universal fit. now when i say universal fit, i mean this one isn't joking. the handle fit over by a good 2 cm on each side, which i worried about at first. so then i put on the "adapter" which holds the brake push button in place, but it was too small again. Well, we worked for about 30 minutes to try and get this piece to bore out a little, then finally, the glue released, and the adapter fit just right. somewhere before that, i put the brake boot on.

If you're going to do this, don't buy some cheap junk. Trust me on this.

Hmmmm

So, I guess we're basically saying that putting a nicer looking e-brake handle on is a pain in the *** at best? Nice...thanks for the info...

well, it's not really a pain in the *** if you get the right stuff. when i got the momo one, it was maybe 30 minutes. You just have to get one that's the right diameter, so you don't have to screw with it too much. I'm positive the Momo, with the Honda Civic adapter works.
