I was thinking of putting a light insulation in my doors for 3 purposes
1.deadening noise from outside the car
2.Stopping cold air from entering in winter and keep in in the summer.
3.i cant remember the third reason

does anyone have any opinopns ideas or advice on this matter
thanks

Dont!!!
use dynamat or brownbread or any similar product that adhears to the outside of the steel pannel.
If you put insulation inside the doors thad isn't meant for auto use it will absorb any water that enters into your door from windows or puddle wash.
this will cause premature rust, because it will take along time to dry. It also may start to mildue and stank.
if you meant the products I said sorry for the rant.

Glad to see the Canadian's referring to Brownbread out there!
Sold to us in the states via Canada, English product, and great stuff. I have used quantities of both it and dynamat, and have been very impressed with the brownbread.
If your goal is to deading the living bejesus out of it, then carefully remove the vapor barrer, and apply to the exterior surface of the car doors, the outside metal. Then apply to the interior surfaces of the metal, the cut outs of the windows and power units, etc. I would suggest not running anymore than one full layer of matting over that to completely seal the door, the door panels get pretty hard to fit back on at that time! Last stick the vapor barrier back on, it protect the back of the interior panel from mosture, and you should have the interior sound of a Mercedes!
That is the over kill description-
If you want to go less, then start just around the speaker locations themsleves- you might be surprised to find the difference thay alone will make!
Good Luck!
