Talking Paint Protectin Film = Cheap insurance

Well I just had the good folks at GoldWing here in Ottawa install the paint protection film on my car and I am one very happy camper. It took a while to find but I sure am glad I got it.

It protects the first 12 inchs on the hood, the end caps of the fenders, as well as the front bumper, and the headights.

It has already had a good test and passed with flying colours.

Last night I was on the 417 in a snow storm and as I was passing a salt and sand truck it started to kick out frozen chunks of sand and salt. A few sizable lumps hit the front of the car and when I got home I got out expecting the worst.

I was wrong, not a mark. You can see where the chunks hit, but not a chip out of the paint or a mark on the headlight. That stuff is great.

I would advise anyone to get it for their car unless they enjoy repainting their car, or replacing their headlights.

Can you see the line where it ends?
over time does it discolour?
Is it a paint or just like a film that is stuck on?

What's the cost....

any more info would be helpful

thx

If you look very closely you can see the rear edge of the film after its been applied. The rear edge is the only one you can see because the kit is computer cut on exact templates for all of the various cars that it is made for. The rear edge can Just be seen because it runs across the hood, all the other edges are at the edges of your hood and as such are invisible.

The film is 6 or 8 mm's thick.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have been told that after waxing you might see a white line across your hood where the wax builds up on the edge of the film. I have also been told that you can get rid of it by using a toothbrush or soft detailing brush.

It is guaranteed to never fade or discolour by 3M, because it is formulated to have UV inhibitors in it.

The cost was roughy $80.00 CDN for the Headlight Protectors. I got them through northernmotrsport.com. The retail cost of the kit for the hood and the front bumper is roughly $300.00.

This is something I would consider recommending to absolutely everyone who cares about the paint and condition of their car.
