hahaha, same problem i had. check out the other thread 'swaybar answers.'

if you play with RC cars, the front inter bushings that come with
Tamiya and HPI RC cars fit very well. you're going to need 4pcs.

you can also find similar bushings/spacers at home depot.

I didn't get any brushings for the endlinks. What do they look like, what are they called so I can get some from Home Depot.

Unhappy Anyone have noise from bushing issues?

Not endlink, but mount bushings. Mine came with poly's, and I've tried 3 different lubricants to shut it up. None have worked so far. I emailed Mitch from Protege5online.com, he's forwarding my email to AWR. Here's what I sent:

"Mitch,

I purchased the AWR 19mm sway bar from you earlier this month. PayPal transaction # xxxxxxxxxxxxxx. I've got some real issues with the poly mount bushings.

They squeak like no tomorrow. I've tried three different types of lubrication to no avail.

1. NAPA Silglide
2. GM Goodwrench Lubriplate Lubricant Spray-Lube "A" p.n. 12346293
3. 3M Lithium Based Grease

None of these have quieted the bushings. I'm at wits end here..... If this can't be resolved, I don't want this bar. Please advise.

Thank you,
Jim Mackenzie"

If anyone has any idea's, please enlighten me. I've done sway bar upgrades on previous vehicles (with poly mount bushings,) and never had this much trouble.

I've yet to try teflon tape around the bar. But at this point, I'm about ready to give up and take the damn thing off completely.
I'm leaving for Carlisle (Compact Nats) this Friday, and I sure as hell don't want to listen to it squeak for 700+ miles.

Just for the record, my car is at stock ride height. I used brand spank'n new OE Mazda endlinks. The endlink nuts are tight. I used the above lubricants on the bar, between the bushing and the CNC'd aluminum mount, and between the bushing and the OE bushing clamp.

Any help greatly appreciated.

humm...did you try putting the lithum grease inside and outside
of the bushings? perhaps the noise is coming from the endlink
to swaybar mount area? not sure, just giving out ideas...

you need to lube between the bushing and the bar. the squeeking comes from the bar twisting inside the bushing. either try to lube it there, or wrap the bar with teflon tape then install the bushing over the tape.

Thumbs down

Thanks for the responses guys, but if you read my last post I've lubricated everywhere possible:

1. Between swaybar and mount bushing
2. Between mount bushing and CNC'd aluminum adaptor
3. Between mount bushing and OE factory bushing clamp

None of this helped, period. I'll try my OE rubber bushings tonight. If that doesn't help, this thing is coming off, no questions asked.

Perhaps you can see if you can exchange it for the fully adjustable 19mm bar, it looks just like the 21.5mm bar. I guess it's the new design since the 19mm bar originally was produced. See if Mitch or Tony will exchange it once you indicate how upset you are with the product.

Another idea: it's occured to me after looking at the pictures that the endlinks are darn near horizontal. (I've noticed this on a lot of other lowered AWR rear bar equipped Pros also.) If this is the case, the bar is going to be shoved backwards when the body rolls or you hit a bump with one wheel. It's possible that this motion is causing the bar to bind and making the bushings squeal. I would get the adjustable endlinks and try re-mounting the bar with the inside of the bend facing upwards. It seems to me that this would reduce the binding.

Good luck!

Again, thanks for the posted ideas.

My car is not currently lowered.... Stock ride height. If this thing won't work as intended, then I'll just go back to the stock 17mm bar. No real big deal.

Thanks for the ideas / support none the less.

Take care,
Jim

yah, if you lubed everywhere, its probably coming from the
endlink joints since it is almost horizontal. you should really
try the 19mm adjustable swaybar, no noise other than a tad
rattling which you can fix easily....im too lazy to unbolt the
endlinks and put some tape to stop the play.

Talking Fixed!

Back to the OE 17mm sway bar. Don't have the time, or desire to fool with this right now. Carlisle is Friday, and I'm running around like a mad man as it is with last minute stuff to do.

Oh well, no big loss. Actually I like the stock bar better anyway. It's a bit better in predictability..... plus a bit smoother ride.

Thanks all,
Jim

PS - the OE setup is quiet as a church mouse as well. No squeaky, squeaky.

Dude, it's not like my car isn't modded! Check the pics on my web site. Like I said, I'll get this figured out, later!

My bar does'nt squeak as much anymore. I purchased an 8oz tub of bushing grease from www.energysuspension.com. This stuff works great. I've tried all the same lube's as well, with no luck. It seems the energy grease is really tacky and sticks quite well to the bushings, sway bar, etc. I grease every part of the bushings inside and out. Top to bottom. The whole bushing is practically dipped in the stuff. I re-lube every time I change the oil.
Give it a try. It's only like, $8.00. You might like it.
