I'm planning to lower my car in the spring and am pretty sure that I'm going to go with the Tein S-techs. They have 60% of the market in Japan and SCC did an article on their factory, it looks top notch.

 

It all comes down to what are want to pay. Eibachs traditionally have always given a slightly more comfortable ride compared to other sport springs, while the H&R's tended to be a little stiffer and more race oriented

Tein's will probably be great, but if you are thinking Tein is a big company because of its %60 market share in Japan. (Mostly Japan GT racing) it probably isn't half the size of H&R or Eibach.

And those of you going on about the ride quality sucks with Ground Controls or skunk 2's, that is a given. After about 3 to 4 weeks of punishment the stock dampers will be dead. If you guys go with a full true coilover set you will not be complaining at all. I am wondering if H&R will ever bring out their coilover kits with bilstein dampers for a Protege. Those tend to be more for just the European crowd though.

 

I don't think that Tein is a quarter of the size of Eibach or H&R. But I think that for a small company to have a large share of the market and be a top choice in Japanese GT racing that says something. Plus they don't make parts for just any vehicle. Like I said SCC did an article on them and they look like a class leading company that makes quality products. I've never heard anything negative about them.

 

Very true, that same issue had a Integra Type R with the "flex" system +the electronic damping controller. that would be awesome, controlling the damping level from inside the car...

I didn't mean anything negative in my latter post, though it did sound like I was being a ***** reading it again. I apologize for that.

For me I will just stick with the European pedigree's for sport springs, though if I had the money for a true coilover set, it would definately be Tein or JIC, unless H&R ever releases a set for us.

you should consider progress springs, it's a 1.5 drop all around. Even with stock struts the ride is still smooth, definately like these better than my eibachs.
