drop question with wheel and tire combo

I've got a set of 215/40-17s on 7.5" rims 48 mm offset

I want to lower the car and coilovers seem like a options, how low can i drop without rubbing?

I know its prob been asked many times..i dont want to slam it like 3 inchs but i'm guessing h&r or a eibach kit seems like my best option.

with that wheel/tire combo....you could use EITHER of those spring sets and be fine....

if you use coilovers....you will just have to experiment with them a little to figure out EXACTLY how low you can go before you rub...

just remember.....you will need to get your front end realigned after you change things up there....everytime.....or you will end up eventually eating your tires.

My question goes along with the first. Right now I have H&R Lowering Springs on my car which don't look bad, but I would like to go even lower so my next option would be coilovers. My wheel and tire combo is 17 by 7, Focal F5's which i want to keep on 205/40 Toyo tires. So do you think just experimenting with the springs once they are on would be the best way to find out how low I could go?

Thanks

Rob

with the wheel/tire combo you have you should be able to go further than the h&r springs take you....the deciding factor will have to do with the exact offset of the wheels you have....

then you will just have to experiment with them a bit to see the limit....as even the road surfaces you drive on will have some effect on how low you can go....obviously if EVERYWHERE you drive its VERY smoothe...then you might be able to get away with a little lower ride then others where its not so smoothe. either way....you can go as low as you like....right up until you RUB!

Sounds good, and i'll keep that in mind on the road surfaces. They aren't exactly smooth over where i'm at but i'll manage. The well offset is 40 but it will be a while until i decide to switch them out. Saving up for a trip to vegas, a friend of mine wants me in his wedding so gotta do what i gotta do. By the way, thx for the quick response. Later

with ONLY a 40 offset it may limit your drop some.....the ideal offset for the P-5 is 48 and a 45 for the sedan..

Well DAMN that isn't kewl. lol. I'm not exactly up to speed on how all the offset works but I'm guessing that there isn't much I can do with the wheels that I have now to increase the offset correct? And the cost to get some wheels with a different offset is a bit much for me at this point. I'm just glad to having a decent looking car at the age of 18, just trying to get things together one piece at a time. Keeps me out of trouble.
