Yeah the 99-00 was quite a bit different.. it barely has the same look at all

IMO it's all sorts of weird looking.

What I did today; posted a huge bunch of cat pics and started a GB, haha. To the car... drove it to work way over the speed limit to avoid being late, haha!

In the interest of making this site a better source of practical information, I'd like to invite you all to review your experience(s) with tires on this review thread.

Trade you for my Alpine

Today, I started a chain of to-do's with my tires:

My current rims are somewhat curb rashed, so I'm planning to bondo the damage, sand it down, and put on a fresh coat of paint.
As well, need to get them rebalanced after that.

In order to do so, I will need to put on my winter rims and tires early, so I can work on the summers.

However, my winter set can't be put on, because one of them is flat - damaged by the dealership last spring.

They couldn't replace it, because the company wasn't making winter tires in the summer, and had to wait until now.

Called the dealership to get my tire ordered - they need me to bring in the old tire so they can make sure to get the exact one ordered in.

Bleh - So much work just so I can re-paint my rims

^^ I know how you feel sorta. I finally managed to bend one of my wheels, and not even downtown! it was on the highway in the middle of nowhere (9 miles west of downtown rochester) and there was the most gruesome highway pothole I've ever seen. I was going 75 and well yeah.. um now I have vibrations at a few speeds. I thought it was just a wheel weight coming unstuck but the lip of the wheel is visibly bent.

I can stick my full-size, matching spare wheel on, but it has a 215/40-17 tire instead of the current 205/40-17 so it'll look silly and feel silly. I can stick all my winter wheels/tires on and feel like I'm driving on jello tires (though they do have stiff sidewalls) while I get one of my 205 tires mounted on the spare wheel (some 'curb rash' from when I had a blowout on the highway because the tire wasn't mounted properly), or I can just live with the vibrations for now (still holds air just fine, vibrations are in the 40-45mph range and aren't bad at all) since I have to get a whole new set of snow tires (gotta order those this month :'( ) and get the wheels repaired during the winter with all the tires unmounted, then new summer tires in the spring gotta love dropping 1000 dollars or more on tires (not including mounting/balancing) every 2 years. <-- I think that is one sentence and I'm leavin it! ha!

Run on sentence ftl--don't make me get out my red pen! =P

That's unfortunate about your wheel. Actually last night I was cruising wheelmax's webpage (dreaming about 5-spoke 17s since cleaning 10-spokes is really ftl) and thinking about how thin those Exel rims are. On the site they look pretty fragile.

Seems like you've done pretty well with 3.2" of sidewall until now!

Ouch, that sucks. My rims seem invincible, besides from curb rash. I have hit MAJOR potholes, the car felt as though something broke - you know those huge thuds where everything not tied down seems to jump?

On more than one occasion too, but looking at the rim, it looks perfectly fine. There are surface scratches, but I can't explain how the rims aren't damaged yet.

They're 5 spoke 17's by RTX: (Linky, if anyone cares )

Smiley link ftw!
