I don't want to go back to the halogens; the HIDs look and illuminate so much better!
Oh sorry.. thought you meant the whole fog lamp esploded, not just the HID capsule. A broken light bulb isn't exciting photo material :P

Replacement OEM fogs aren't all that expensive, but you can always try rockblocker clear covers (that they don't make for your fog lights --they sell square sheets though, and it's an easy shape to cut)

do you have any pictures of this "Revised" EGR valve? part number? even if we can't get mazda to replace it for us, it might be worth it to try the upgrade anyway.

I'm working on it. If I buy a new egr valve, you better bet it'll be this new one unless it's 300 dollars or something.

No pics yet, no one has even gotten it installed, just people at a canadian dealership looked over the tsb.

But yeah now it's a stepper motor with vacuum assist and a coolant passage to keep the temps reasonable. Adding a coolant passage to anything works well for me with the engine block heater

^^^ It's $250.

I bought it for full price right before the warranty bulletin was put out, so if I had wait 3-4 months, I would have gotten a free one.

As for everyone with the cracked fogs/holes in fogs, have you considered putting a layer of Rockblocker or Lamin-x?

That should protect it from more water getting in, might also save it from more rock damage.

Did my last oil change before I leave for work, also rotated the tires. My suspension is so tight that when I jack up the front with the stock jack high enough, it lifts the rear off the ground (first time I have seen it do this). Did make the rotation easier.

that's not 'tight' or 'loose', that's just not a lot of droop travel in the shocks.

and a pretty good chassis.

I've seen cars where you jack it up with the door open and it can't close until you lower the car back down (yay j-body)

do you still have the part number floating around? how hard was it to "retro-fit" where the old one was? re-plumb some coolant lines, add a vacuum line - was it difficult? does the car operate any differently?

hahaha well yeah that too. We do have a very non-floppy (antonym: del sol) chassis, which is nice. A del sol on course looks like someone autocrossing a wet noodle lol

That's the reason I didn't attempt it. The old EGR gave me so many problems (couldn't start it), that I didn't want to risk making any mistakes.

Had my shop (not a dealer) do it for me, so I'm not sure how hard it would be to do.

Car runs really smooth and feels great. Also seems to pull better in the midrange, but that's most likely just because it couldn't breathe before.

It comes as a kit with the hoses and clamps needed from what everyone on toprotege.com has said. It just hooks into that loop going to the throttle body and back. I don't remember which vac line they suggest to tee off of but they're basically all the same

Yesterday I used Zymol's leather cleaner and conditioner since I ran out of my Zaino Leather in a Bottle :'(

The zymol stuff isn't bad. If you follow the directions, it doesn't leave a greasy feel at all, which is what I was really worried about (used it on the shift boot, e-brake boot, and steering wheel). The cleaner actually seemed to work better than the Zaino cleaner I had been using (not leather in a bottle (Z10), but Z9... forget the name).

now it no longer looks like this in my car (was like this for almost a week):

and yes, the car was running when I took that pic, hence the violently pulsating shift lever. It was fully warmed up too, at like 700rpm idle hence the 16.00 air/fuel ratio

Now it's 30F outside and I had planned on washing my car before leaving to drive to Atlantic City, NJ (a 7 hour drive, but I'm budgeting 8 hours with nap time and going only a mph or two over the speed limit to see if I can do the over 400 miles on one tank).

HAHAHAHA race car styl3 y0! We don't need no stinking interior! I've never seen a car that *didn't* look wierd w/o a shift boot / center console, w/ the shifter just sticking up out of the body work. Even spec Miatas look odd like that.

I never really appreciated Ferrari interiors for this reason. The open shift gate just looks weird. I'd be afraid change or other incedentals would get in there and jam it up. Probably unwarranted concern, and not that I'd ever realize it, but whatever.

Chris, your AFR meter and aux guages for the turbo are neato.

Something's rattling around my trunk. I wonder if I've developed the infamous P5 spoiler rattle...:'(

New OEM front lip & side skirts, NSN's 3/8" spacers, HIDs all around, and a little Meguair's...
