What does the remote look like?

My ES '02 didnt come with one (got it used) could someone describe it, a seller described t as:

"2 inches long with 3 buttons straight down the middle lock, unlock and a red panic button"

Is that right? It does have the right part number that I need. I always thought it had a blue trunk button.

Thumbs down Lame!

Providing the car minus the keyless entry controllers is unacceptable. Was the previous owner an idiot? Losing such key (pun intended) components suggests an irresponsible disposition on their part, and further suggests possible neglect of the car itself.

So basically what this means is you've got someone out there who has the keyless entry controller(s) for your car, and if they know which car is yours (or perhaps the previous owners just kept them so that they've access to your car whenever they want), they've got total access.

Even if you don't secure replacements for your Protege, I'd suggest you'd better deactivate the keyless entry system. Or at least change the access codes. You're otherwise just *asking* to get ripped off.

Word to the wise...

That sounds just like mine. I would be suspicous though why they would sell you the car without it though
