Remote question

When I bought my P5, it didnt come with a remote. I have been looking at some on ebay, but they all say you have to match up your FCC number with the number on the remote they are selling. Well, since I dont have a remote, how would I go about finding the FCC number? Can Mazda get the number from my vin??

You should contact Ken from protegegarage.com and ask him about it. He works for a mazda dealer and gets OEM parts for us at deeply discounted prices and can get you whatever you need.

Quick question to add, with the stock MSP remote, is it supposed to be able to pop the trunk? I read somewhere it was supposed to but I could be wrong. Mine just has lock, unlock, and " ! " (lol)

Also check www.onlinemazdaparts.com .. they're affiliated with Montgomery Mazda.

They have AWESOME prices on OEM parts and superb customer service that will blow Ken out of the water any day. I know Ken has been around since day 1 and has done a lot of the Protege community, but he's not exactly the cheapest or fastest option around. Just FYI for those that don't know about it.

I dunno for sure, but if it doesn't I'm sure it's an easy addition. Just run a wire to your trunk release and whoila .. done.

Mine looks identical to that. So I am guessing that's a no then. Sucks because my trunk latch next to the driver seat needs tightening or something cause it don't work. No sweat though, just unlock door remotely and use key.

+1 for onlinemazdaparts.com having AMAZING customer service. The site has been down for a few days though

Anyone have good instructions on how to program a Mazda Protege remote? The remote for my '99 ES broke off of my keychain and disappeared, so I ordered a new one.. but following the included instructions doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone else had success programming a remote for the 99-00 models? If so, care to share the technique?

This is the remote for '99 and '00 models.. how do you program the '01-'03 model? I'm pretty sure it would be the same.

Trussville Mazda can not get the FCC ID number for my car with my VIN. They said the only way to get it is off the remote. Guess Ill just take a shot buying one off ebay and hope its the correct number to match. If not, just turn around and list it back/
