what bug's you the most(3rd gen)

Being new here, I don't want to be hated already. I really never meant to insult the car. It is a sweet car! It's appearence is bad ***. That's one of the main reasons I got it. I'm not saying there is anything wronng with it. I guess I just thought of this topic as kind of a "If you could change one thing..." I bought it, I still love it. And you guys are right, if I wanted a race car I shoul've, and would've bought something else. Maybe I should just apologize for being b*tchy and too defensive. I don't want to make enemies. I didn't mean to **** anyone off. And you guys are right in a lot of what you are saying. I didn't post originally to start an arguement, that was just what I thought. Sorry guys. Sometimes I get mad a little too quick. Bottim line... It IS a sweet car!

I wasnt being an ***, thats your whole problem. I expressed an opinion, and you got all bitchy.
Maybe in this particular thread, where it was asked what you didnt like about your car, I shouldnt have commented on your comment, but my intentions weren't to get the "bitch" out of the "bitch" so to speak.
Thats what people usually do in a place like this, talk back and forth, expressing opinions.

I don't understand why people get real nasty when a comment is made about what bugs them the most about the 3rd gen - after all that IS the topic of this thread.
As far as the 130HP for the P5, I think it is great, perfect for the kind of driving that i do. I am not a racer. However, at times, I could use possible the new 160HP in the 6. I am sure if such a version was offered, peopel would pay a bit extra $$$ for it.
I live in the North NJ and merging can be a real pain with the P5 of certain roads. In such situations more HP would be welcomed. I go to grad school at Columbia in NYC, where the P5 power is more than adequate.
What is comes down to is what YOUR uses for the car are. I do agree that you can't compare a Civic SI to the P5. The Civic SI was built from the ground up as a performance car just as the ACURA RSX-type S, the WRX, and so on.
I don't understand why Mazda can't drop the great 2002 miata engine in the P5 but then again i don't know much about engines. Just that I would not be complaining if the P5 had 140HP. However, for MY needs the 130HP is more than adequate.
I have been out of my P5 for 4 weeks now b/c it was invovled in an accident, all i can say is that i can't wait to have it back! I just love the car.

haha i was afraid somebody might ask...its dreadful - 2002 SATURN SL2 - it hurts just to type that! The rental gave me two choices a FORD ESCORT or the SATURN. Is that even considered a choice? lol I can drive this piece of crap or the other piece of crap.
I can't believe that the SL2 is considered in the same class at the Protege!

same platform yeah but same handling? interior? same fit and finish? same quality? same engine? so can the escorts handle and have such great road grip as the P5? is the escort as fun to drive as the P5?
something to think about...

after you mention that, i checked it out, the pro DOES NOT share the platform with the escort (02 is what i checked up on). The new protege replacement coming up is going to be sharing the platform is the ford focus.
Get your info right.

The Protege DOES share the same platform as the escort. Get YOUR info right. If you dont believe it, go find a late model escort and the same year protege and look undeneath both cars. Guess what? Their vitually identical.

This is from newcartestdrive.com. If you want more references, just ask. the Protege platform was designed in-house at MAZDA and NOT shared with the Escort.
This newest Protege is based on the narrow-platform version of the Mazda 626 sedan that's sold in Japan and Europe. Mazda's designers have made no secret of the fact that they drew their styling inspiration from European cars. It shows. The new Protege's rounded corners, sculpted hood line and clean, uncluttered shape suggests a variation on BMW's stately and sporty visage.
When they redesigned the Protege for 1999, Mazda's designers in Hiroshima made a number of chassis-strengthening improvements. They increased the bending strength by 22 percent and torsional rigidity by 12 percent. Protege's crash protection has been improved by the addition of side-impact reinforcements that Mazda calls "Triple-H" construction.
