Hey Nick,

I dont hear it enough to figure it out. Kind of sporadic. I hope its nothing internal! Yup coffee is still on... should be caught up soon. Going to the car show? Lot of things I need to see, Mini Cooper, new Mazda's of course, a 360 Modena Spyder like my customers. (his isn't a spyder) Seriously fun car though!!

Hey FWIW

I live in canada, I get a similar noise. I am willing to bet if I opened the hood it would be a lot louder. I am taking my car in for an oil change on Friday, will let you know what he says.

Stocker.

Does the FS-DE use hydrolic lifters?

If so it could be oil pressure related. Cold=slower oil flow.

If you read all the other threads about this rattle then I think you'll see that mazda has already said they know about the rattle they know what it is and are working on it and will have a fix for us.

Yes I have, but I haven't seen any canadien posts that state Mazda Canada is aware of it or even planning to fix it. So if any canadiens out there have talked to their dealers or anything let me know. I would like to be able to say, "call so and so mazda dealership they know about it" Rather than being told it is a manifold rattle.

You guys need to make a music video for the sound clip. It's more popular then any other sound file out there on the web hehe. Hmmm, I wonder if I type in 'rattle' in Win MX if it will find this

Yes, it was installed by the dealer, dark navyblue. (actually everything listed @ the bottom was, DTM exhaust w/silencer, Razo Ti pedals which I love although thought they would be the first to go).
On the US website it looks as though black leather is an option now.

Do you have any pics? Is it two-tone? How much was it?

I just went to my dealer here in Quebec, and suprisingly they were on top of the situation. They said they have received a new ECU program last week which was supposed to fix the problem. They were too busy to flash it while I was there, but I have an appointment for Monday so I'll let people know if it worked.

Leather...

All of that was dealer installed? Did it void your warranty outright? My dealer flat out refused to do anything. They claimed it could not be altered from what the window sticker stated. I'm getting the feeling I got screwed. I was also told they wouldnt offer leather and I bought the pro5 back in August, so it's a possibility it honestly was not an option.

so they told you (shaderman) that the reprogram was to fix the rattle specifically??? If so, I wonder if the US dealerships have any of this information?

Yeah, they asked if I was experiencing the rattle at around 2500RPM and they knew it was a timing problem which this update is supposed to fix. We'll see come Monday ...

Cheers,

Just a solid color, they did the door panels too (front and rear). No pics, need to get a digital camera soon, but thats another story (got quite the 35mm rig). At the Calgary Auto Show they had a yellow P5 with Leather w/ yellow inserts. Looked cool. If I decide to do something like that I'd probably use suede in the center section. Great butt traction on corners! I'm going to go for for coffee with Maxx, maybe he'll take some pics for me.
