That sounds like a great idea! I will definitely look into it. I think I will still look into my conquest seats as well. Lots o side and lumbar support.

4 mnkyby, Yes, they are uncomfortable on longer drives. Not a problem 95% of the time. But that other 5 really sux!!

 

Add me to that list. I'm very satisfied with the seats also. Very comfortable.

 

Just drove 500 miles total, to and from Dallas. Never was there a hint of fatigue or soreness. The only bad part is I now have damn strep throat!!

 

I think the seats are great, very comfortable once you find the right position for you, which took me no time at all. Then again anything would have been better than the bench seat in old truck.

 

I agree. Once I find my perfect seating postion, then I can drive for a long time.

 

Comfortable for sitting and relaxing, yes.
Comfortable for driving, not so much.

The seats are too high up. It seems every notch of every setting is just too much on the other side of where I need it to be. I long for seats with infinitely adjustable recline and finer-toothed sliders. A spacer for the steering wheel wouldn't be so bad either.

Maybe my body is just freakishly out of proportion.

 

I find the seats quite comfortable, I just think they look like they belong in a supped-up-Tempo. I drive from Toronto area to Sudbury 5-6 times a year and don't have a problem. I also drove to Tennessee and found the seats fine.
I really love the seats from my Thunderbird Turbocoupe, they cradle you like a seat should both for regular & long trips and spirited driving.

I have a problem, my drivers seat started to squeak a week or so ago. Im not sure where its squeaking, but does anyone have any suggestions? Should I take the seat out, or would the dealer consider this part of the warranty. IMO, seats are a item that is worn, so they probably will tell me im SOOL. Wow mnkyboy I had the same exact problem. In about another week the seat is gonna start to rock back in forth (well mine did, but this was also after I got my amp installed under the seat so I don't know if the guy installing it messed with it). The same thing also happened to Tuan(acoupdetat). All you need to do is pop off the plastic cover pieces that cover the bolts hat hold down the mounting brackets. Next take a trusty 14mm wrench and tighten the bolts and it stops. I got really scared when this first happened, but it is really easy to fix. Hope this solves the problem, it must be a New Orleans thing, cause we are the only people I have heard this happen to.

 

LOL! Yea, a New Orleans POTHOLE thing! Heh. I thougth it was the steering column that was making the noise, since it seemed to only squeak when I turned the wheel. My wife figured it out when she was driving with me. I guess the seat is going left to right when I turn. Im going to try your suggestion this weekend, hope it works . I still have the "knock" problem when I turn the steering wheel clockwise. Royal Mazda said its normal on all Proteges, but thats BS. I just noticed the noise about a month ago. Have you had a problem with that? Also, are you going to the World of Wheels next weekend? I PM tito, and he said the NOLA Protege Club may meet. I want to go to the show.

 

I had a very annoying seat squeak as well that was driving me nuts. I figured it was the seat, since it does tend to move around a bit. Then one day while it was squeaking, I happened to grab the seat belt buckle receiver (the one with the red release button) completely by chance, and noticed that the squeak was actually coming from the that. What a relief! I took some motorcycle chain lube (thick and gooey with no odor) and dabbed a bit at the pivot point and the noise was completely gone.

So make sure to check it if all else fails. As a matter of fact, check it first, since its the easiest to do. BTW, you may not be able to hear it squeak just by grabbing it, just lube it and try it out for a few days.

No I haven't had the "knock" yet, and hopefully not. I have heard many bad things about Royal's service dept. You may want to try either Brian Harris in Slidell or Ducote on teh Westbank. Yeah we are going to WOW, I think saturday. Not 100% sure, but if you wanna come it is most probably gonna be NOLA ProClub and some other guys we hang out with. Pm me and let me know.

 

I've a P5. IMHO the Wet Okole waterproof neoprene seat covers add a very nice degree of opulence. These are very high quality. If you plan on keeping your car a long time or need to hop in with a wet bathing suit these are great and easily pay for themselves. For wet or sandy stuff in the hatch storage area, get the cargo liner from Mazda.

My kids use the P5 for beach runs all the time. Boy do they like that Exxon/Mobil speedpass as well.
