"Sound Proofing" your car will reduce road noise. It also makes your stereo system sound MUCH better.

Where does the wind noise comes from? The outside mirror?

What do you think about Great stuff foam placed in the rocker panels? I think it would work great, and it would be an easy win because there are already holes where the trim snaps into them. I also feel the rocker panels are a big source of the rain/stone noise. (big, long hollow tubes of thin sheetmetal...hmm)

But my worry is trapping moisture in the rockers and enabling future rusting.

Any opinions?

Great stuff is Great stuff. I used it in the bars and frame on my road bike this summer with great results. The only downside is the stuff expands a little too well sometimes!

If you worry about rust, go buy some rubber undercoating sprays at the auto-parts store. Put down 2 coats and then fill in the "Great Stuff". The rubber undercoating sprays also works great at cutting down tires noise in the wheel wells area (just be sure to cover up the suspension, brakes and surrounding paints with trash bags and newspapers.)

Anyone know how hard it is to strip down the interior of a Protege 5? The local stereo shop want $650 for sound proofing the whole interior with Dynamat materials. I am planning to do it myself using cheaper B-quite materials along with Ice-guard and foam.
