Thumbs down road noise

Is it just me or are these cars really loud? I don't mind the engine sound, the wind noise isn't too bad but the road noise is just horrid and unbearable!
Whenever I hit rough pavement it thumps really loud and there is always tire noise, especially on not-perfectly-smooth pavement.

Another thing I get is a VERY loud humming that changes with speed. When I turn right, it gets louder, when I turn left, it almost dissapears.
So either I have a bearing shot? or my tires are just $#!+

Yeh...I'm just spoiled cause I drove a new Focus for a couple days.
At least my car doesn't rattle like the focus.

Still cant tell it I'm getting tire noise or a bad wheel bearing I'm tellin ya it sounds like an airplane on the highway.
Heck my old CRX with holes in the floor had less tire noise.

there's no grooves in our highways
and I'm running crappy 80 series tires that came with the car but the thing is the airplane noise goes away when I turning left.
