Protege friendliness
This thread stared on the "interesting" thread.
When i was driving through San Diego (did a 1300 mile trip in 4 days) I got thumbs up from every Protege5 driver I saw. Especially the cutey in the Yellow P5 (remember me 7:30am outside San Marcos the blue P5 Whats your name number......hello? is thing on?)
Anybody else getting props on the road. I've even had honda drivers chase me down to look at the back deck, find out what I'm driving, its a great feeling.

other protege owners don't say much to me or whatever. most protege5 owners i see are older and definately dont look into hookin up cars or showin the love. i've met a couple people locally that are cool. i was at the track a couple weeks ago (drag racing, not autox) and this guy came out to the pits from the stands to find out what kind of car i had because he saw me race. said he had to find out what it was and complimented me on it. :| but other than that.. no protege love out here yet :|

the two coolest things I've considered compliments is: an E36 BMW M3 (modded) was playing around with me on the highway and yesterday, a Z06 did the same (and I was dusted LOL).
It's a good feeling when an owner of a $50,000 car gives you the respect.
I've actually seen hooked up Proteges and we both pulled over and talked. Around here Pro owners are very friendly.

I totally agree
Being one of the few yellow p5's in Vancouver, in the first 2 weeks that i had my P5, i already at several people come up to me while i was idling complement on my car. This one guy pulled up in a 996 CC bike forgot the name of it, and he looked over and gave me the "nod". Feels good!

I live in San Diego and drive a Silver P5. I get as excited at seeing other P5s as I do when I look at my own. I love a good game of freeway tag, but I'm always courteous (and acknowledge) other P5 owners before I start messin'.
Hope you enjoyed your trip through sunny San Diego. Who knows, maybe I was one of the people who gave you a thumbs up?!?

this just isn't a Protege thing...its an ENTHUSIAST thing...yes I do get the waves on the road...the BEST one was when I was sitting at a stop sign at the main drag....and in front of me appears a drak green miata with a blonde bomb shell driving it....as she turned in and started to go by she looked over, waved and smiled REALLY big...it was cool....
I also see this sort of thing ALL the time when on the road on my Harley....EVERY biker waves to others....for that is just ANOTHER family I belong to.
it feel so good to have family

If it was a 996 it would be a Ducati which is a sweet bike. I also got many compliments on my car as well when I first got it. All the people that I have talked to that have the P5 really like it, and they all seem to be really cool people. I noticed this cute girl the other day who had one, and we just smiled at each other in acknowledgement. There does seem to be some camaraderie amongst the P5 owners, I like it.

No doubt hey? I don't have a Protege5, but rather a sedan, but yesterday this really hot 20ish year old girl smiled and waved at me, and looked my car up n down. Her boyfriend was next to her hehehe

i like the attention from fellow pro owners as well. the other day this rich guy comes up to me (he owns like 2 jags and a benz) and was genuinely intrested in my 5. i only wished he would have offered me cash for my car, that way i can get the rx-8...

midnight blue P5?? r u here??
like one night about a month ago, it was about midnight and I was driving home on sunset blvd, I noticed a midnight blue P5 coming from the opposite direction and we both stopped at the red light, so I flashed it... but it gave no response... so I was driving along then I notice in the mirror it does a U-turn and then were next to each other at the next stop light so I look over and its 2 girls but then she speeds off when it turns green.... tried to chase but her auto tranny just takes off much better.....then when it got to insane speeds on such a winding road with lots of radars (so I hear) I back off.... I don't think it was a race.... I dunnno if she noticed mine was a P5..... I wonder if she is on this board??

As with most folks here I have also noticed that every time I pass another P5 the driver looks over and we give each other the nod. Reminds me of all the bike riders out there.
A funny thing happened a few weeks ago. I was in Calgary and I saw a siler car in my rear view mirror coming up quite fast. He pulled out to pass but instead stayed beside me for a few minutes then backed off. It was a Toyota Matrix and with a guy and girl in the car. I guess he just wanted to have a look at my P5. I had a chuckle at that.
Cheers

I'm all alone...there's no Pro beside me...here in Colorado. But when I had my '83 VW GTI, all the other people with Rabbits did the wave and smile thing, especially fellow GTIers-even new GTIs. Pros just haven't really caught on here yet...all the kids still have their Civics. Oh well.
