Question P5 A/C problems?

Now that the weather is warming up (in Vancouver) I am noticing the A/C is not very cold. I measured the outlet temperature according to the shop manual and it was about 6 degC or 43F. It should be about 3C or 37F. Dealer will look at it on Tuesday.

My question: Has anyone one out there had similar problems with their A/C? If so what was the problem.

It probably just needs a refrigerant charge - your dealer will likely do this for free!

The A/C's colder in my P5 than my friend's 2000 Z28. Way colder. That thing's like an oven.

Mine starts cooling a few minutes after starting driving. Haven't checked the temperature though. Will have the dealer give it a check next time I bring it in for maintenance...

Yeah, mine's kinda weak too....i'd imagine doing anything to the intake on the car wouldnt affect the A/C cuz they are differetn systems but to be honest it seems hotter after i messed around with my intake, same with my last car haha

no A/C will be able to effectively cool a car when it is initially started b/c the vents and air pasages are all screaming hot, but it should kick in in a minute or so. You can recharge the A/C yourself too. Just go pick up a bottle or 2 of R-34 (i beleive) refrigerant. you can only buy(as a consumer) a speciafic refrigerant and every car made in the last 8 years uses it too. All you have to do then is buy a guage with a tube attached to it for like 15 bux and the instructions are on the can. Takes about 15 minutes to recharge but for the love of god only recharge it with the car running and the A/C on.

also, when at idle, your a/c will not be near as cold as it will be when cruising down the road keeping the rpms above 1.5 or so
