New problems...

So, I took my ol' Pro and drove it down to Phoenix this last week from Denver and then back 5-6 days later. I've come to notice a good ticking noise now under the hood which I believe to be a lifter. I'm fairly certain of this as it sounds like a lifter noise and is regulated at the same pace as the RPM's. They're starting to get tired, I'm sure, and old.
Anyway, the engine is the stock 1.8L SOHC, and I was wondering how big of a job was it to replace the lifters, or HLA's, in this engine? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Well, I'm guessing by the mass amount of replies that it's probably not worth thinking about replacing the lifters anymore on my Pro.
So, if that's not an option, how about putting another engine in it? Does the DOHC fit right in with the current transmission? That is the AWD transmission too. Or should I find a GTX transmission to fit the DOHC engine in? Thanks for any help..
