my personal waxing regiment is done minimum once in fall and spring.. and regualr car washes at least every two weeks more often once a week... important to spray down the undercarriage and wheel wells very well... besure there is no crud that u just wet left attached on the body.. probably doing more harm than good..

but for waxing... i would start with a dishsoap wash to remove old wax buildup then a clay bar or a paint cleaner then a polish or swirl remover then a coat of wax.. carnauba for sure... its a hassle but it sure makes the car shine... and protects it too..

of course i use a regular car soap for weekly washings...

throughout winter i try to wash my car as often as possible at least weekly.. with cold water its probably going to freeze up but some salt could deal with that.. and spray down the undercarriage again too... at leant my winters arent that bad living in pacific northwest... well southern BC

oh one other thing.. 2-3 washmitts one for the top of the car another for the bottom of the car below the door moulding and another for the wheels... i just keep on cycling through the washmitts as i get a new one every spring and throw out the oldest one... if i drop the washmitt on the groud i have to go buy a new one... id rather not risk having an embedded rock scratch my paint..

Yes it can hurt your car if you not diluteing the soap and use 2 gallons to clean your car.
As to this home Garage, I worked in the shops also with the same shiat you think I just decided one day when the wife was gone to use some dawn..... Gimme a break its a shame when you can't do something yourself that you have to take your car in to get anything done. Yes the soap is used to remove greese so is the meguirs. Pull your heads out of your asses and stop following the wannabe's that bolt up stuff and call it a race car.

In order to keep a clean paint job on a car you must wax at least every 2 weeks. The UV rays will kill even the best paint jobs washed in pure water...........................................

I remember my neighbor telling me to wax every three weeks to a month. He was a GM bodyman and seemed to know his stuff. Once he even fixed my fender for free on my old grand am after a deer hit it. Did a PRO job on matching the non OEM paint too. He also told me to wax horizontally on the car so you don't get swirls and I guess any scratches would be harder to see. I don't use dish soap though. I figured if he's working on corvettes, audi's and saab's, that he prob. knew what he was talking about.
