With as frail as our engines are ANY knocking is too much. I wouldn't take the risk.

89 or die.

Absolutley. It'll cost you and extra 1.40 or so per tank. To me, that's not worth taking a risk for.

The car was knocking even with the stock ECU. So we started using mid grade and we picked up 4 mpg and lost the knocking.

So far we have not had any problems with knocking with 89 octane.

have you tried cleaning your fuel system and replacing the plugs?? how many miles are on the car? That's not good.
