Thank you for your reply! That's good to know in case they do try to jack the price. It sounded pretty plausible what the one dealer told me how Mazda told them they can't see them for a higher price just because it's yellow.

I'll believe that the dealer cannot sell the "car" for over MSRP, but that doesn't mean the crafty bastards who sell em, can't find a way around it.

Here's my story on the Vivid yellow. I wanted one. I searched the Mazda website for inventories of dealerships in my area (few hundred miles) and according to the website, only one of the dealerships had any P5s. Well, I went down to the Vero Mazda and looked at a silver one (the only 5 spd) and then told them I would be in touch. Well, in the course of calling them back the number information had for them was wrong, so I called my local Mazda dealership (Boniface-Heirs) to get the number. The guy on the phone was of course inquisitive as to why I wanted Vero's number and not theirs and I told him that according to my drive through of their lot and the website, they didn't have any P5s. He said oh yes we do, we keep them in the back. After a short conversation I found out that they had several 5 spds 2 in midnight blue and one in yellow even. I was really excited. I told him I was on my way. He started asking about how much I wanted to spend, and after which he told me there was no way I could afford the yellow one. I asked him why not? He said that the yellow is a premium color and he can sell it for full MSRP to some other person. I told him why wait, I would by it tonight. I am buying one anyways, might as well be yours. Then I asked him "What you are telling me, is instead of making me a deal and making my day, and making money tonight. You would rather wait another month or more for some sucker to pay full invoice and only make a little more money. He says yup, and I'd make a lot more money. How come? Cause they put 16" OZ F-1 cup rims, tinted the windows and put a yellow mazda emblem on the back window. Guess how much he marked up the car for the wheels?.....Anyone?....Yeah, try $2500 bucks. I was like "Are you kidding me?" You bought a retail product and then are going to try to sell it at over double the retail price?? Who the hell would pay for that. He says to me "somebody will". I was like, well it sure as hell isn't me. Take the wheels off, put the stock ones on and I'll buy it. He said nope. I hung up. I probably would have even liked the blue better than the silver, but the guy was such a ***** I would never let him make any money off of me. The guys at Vero were much easier to work with, gave me a good price, and gave me one of the better buying experiences I have had. Even through in free road hazard on the tires for the life of the warranty.

Anyway, if any of you are looking to buy in the Melbourne area, stay away from Boniface.

<sigh> Yellow would have been nice.
