V Spec

Yes, the V Spec an LSD as well but it also has a stone age rear beam suspension. This is pretty much unacceptable and is part of the reason why this car is priced so low. I couldn't live with all the rear end drama everytime I hit a bump on the highway.

As far as suspension on the MS3...don't forget it has a further tuned version of the MP3's suspension.

I'm with psuedo on the power thing. It is totally being low-balled. Don't forget last year Mazda claimed a 15HP improvement in the Miata that wasn't really there. I'm sure they don't want to repeat that or have what happend to Nissan with the V-Spec.

I agree, the 20-21K range sounds about right in American $$$.

kc5zom,

Try adding up all the #'s and you can see tha $20-22K is a pretty good deal.

base car(MP3) 18500
LSD 1500
turbo 2500
+--------
$22500

This doesn't inculde cost of interior items, stereo, OR INSTALL and this figure is HIGH. Mazda says this package will be under $22K, so tell me again how this isn't a good deal.

This car needs to be <20K USD. As others have stated it stacks up slightly better than the current crop of FWD rockets... but not 4K better!!!!

Think about it, if this car sells for 22K + the obligitory 1K dealer markup for its rarity = 23K. The WRX is easily had these days for 23.5!!! For an extra 500 to 1500 bucks I'd definately go for the WRX, expecially considering they are redesigning the ugly headlights in the near future.

Why they didn't just drop in the FS-ZE I don't understand. Surely it would have been easier and cheaper than engineering a brand new turbo system. Sure a turbo is more tuneable, but the key here is price, and it sounds like Mazda might be pricing themselves out of the market.

I don't know what the big fuss is over the WRX. I would take the Mitsubishi Evo VII over that anyday. Just have to figure out a way to come up with 25K by Spring 2003.

Subaru WRX is a POS. Until you ride in Evolution you don't know what you are missing. Plus the US version of the Evo will be faster, you can bet on it.

The US WRX is a POS. The JDM STi spec is a different story. I would still take an Evo though.

For the same reason that Fords are. Cheaply Built. Please don't tell me you are a Ford fan. (And yes I know Mazda is a part of Ford, I just picked the lesser of the two evils). The WRX just doesn't have the refinement that the Evo does.

One additional note, since I am ignorant and shallow. The only hardcore fact I can come up with is that it IS Butt Ugly. That should be reason enough. (Makes you wonder if Ford Focus owners are blind too. Plain Fugly)

Hey, I didn't pull the rest of the Mitsubishi line into this. I would agree with you there. I would not buy any of their other vehicles. Kind of like Nissan, I like the Skyline, but the rest of the cars they make, make me wonder.

The cars are soooo close in comparision you have to go with the looks. The Evo looks more refined.

Come on, this could go on for ever!!! Just meet me half way!

1) I could have sworn wider was better!
2) Lower center of gravity, I wonder what that does?
3) Is subaru still top mounting that intercooler?
4) Ugly is a VERY good reason not to buy

Lets just agree that the any of us would take the new US EVO over the Current US competitor WRX.

But the fact remains the the US Version of the EVO will better than the current US WRX. Kind of funny how you keep glossing over that part. Last I checked we still live in America. So unless you plan on importing your off-road use WRX STi I suggest you buy the EVO. I know I will.
