Don't get the K&N filter, not worth the money IMO, you live in the US right? I paid a little extra for an ebay intake because of shipping to Canada.

The intake off ebay was well worth the money. Sounds good, feels good, and even looks good. Just find one with the type of piping you like, I'd stay away from the cold air ones off ebay, but the short rams are very nice. Install is very very easy, information is all over the forum.

Either that or like Sir Nuke said, the kartboy shifter and bushings. You'll love the way the shifter feels after you get those.

Oh, sparkwires and plugs, I'd wait till those need to be replaced, If you're running on stock wires now and they haven't been changed yet, wait till you do your plugs and change the wires out as well. You won't be satisfied with spending cash on that right now.

Good luck!
Have fun with your new P5!

Despite what some people may say, $60 can go a long way. For example, an eBay intake. It doesn't offer much HP gains, but it does drastically improve throttle response and produces a nice loud growl at WOT.

Also, unless you plan on getting a turbo/supercharger kit or nitrous soon, don't waste your money on spark plugs/wires. The stock ones are more than enough to handle stock or near-stock power.

Say $40 for an eBay intake, that leaves you with $20 left over. You could go buy your girlfriend/wife a nice teddy bear and take her for a romantic drive in your new car. You could also get something inexpensive for your car, like a license plate frame or something (if you are deadset on spending it on your car).

A shortshifter is a good investment, but because you don't know what it is you probably wouldn't know how to install it, and might mess something up. Personally I think the P5's shift just fine stock, and a short shifter can wait until I have more money.

YOU SIR, you are Sir Nuke! I'm just a little man trying to make it in this hard world... I love this forum man! It's like having friends that I've never met before... lets get together, swap cars, i'm loosing it.... 5150... But seriously, man.... I'm gettin thea.... (*cough*, lol), I really love the yellow, but it's something I like to see others drive, I guess it's because it would be getting too much attention, for me. I like a car that gets a lot of attention, but I prefer not to drive it regularly. If I had 2 cars, I guess I would've gone with the yellow P5!
ROTFLMAO.....well you have a point.....MY P5 is not my primary car....its my TOY.....I have my ratty old Pickup for my daily driver....and I also have my Harley to run around on too.....My P5 is for sunny days crusin.....and I likes the attention it gets, except for when the POPO eye me... lol and in my little hick town....they can be real PITA's sometimes.....but typically....they have LOTS of ricer kids to pick on.....and leave the "old man" alone.

I looked around, and if the shifter thing just makes it easier/smoother to shift, it would be pretty pointless. That's not going to improve my speed any. MAYBE I could shift faster, but that's not a real problem.

I've decided on an intake (not JUST from this forum, but from other research, etc.) but I don't know which one/type to get. I know it's not going to help that much, but what's the best one to get?

A $40 Ebay intake will probably be the best choice. It functions the same as an AEM Short Ram, but costs lots less. Or, if you don't like the chrome piping you can buy just a cone filter (with 3" hole) and put it on the stock MAF. Then buy a small strip of metal and make a custom bracket to hold it up.

I did the latter; bought a cone filter and made a custom bracket. Throttle response was improved greatley and the sound is totally awesome. I'll find some pics I took of it and post them for your enjoyment.

welcome...

I got my 2003 P5 $1000 bucks under MSRP out of door. And I do think you got a good deal on your yellow p5.

About the mod. in my opinion, I got k&n drop-in air filter for less than 30 bucks shipped. If you think an intake is good for you, just go for that. Or you can save some money to get synthetic oil for your car as well..
