horn rewiring...

So a cop clipped the wire to my horn the otherday cause the car alarm was fucked up and kept going off (I don't blame him, and I suppose he could have done worse)... so I was thinking since I have to get to the horn anyway, maybe I'll go ahead and replace it with something with a little more omph...

My problem is that I can't figure out a way to get to the horn! Do I have to take off the whole front bumper to get to it? Are there any guides around on the web, I couldn't find any via Google. And neither Haynes nor Chilton seem to make a manual for this car yet! (I can't justify the actual shop manual for just this job.)

Any help would be appreciated.

You can get to it by removing the front grille. 3 screws and a couple of clips are all that hold it in... I replaced mine with a couple of Hella horns. After you remove the screws/clips a sharp tug on the grille will pull it free...

Is this true for ALL 3rd gens, including 1999 sedans? I tried to take the grill insert off by 1999 LX sedan and after trying for a bit I gave up, not wanting to break it.

Can't tell you about those--I have an '03 P5 and that's how mine came off. If you have the fasteners removed, a couple of strong clips still hold it in place, and it takes a good pull to snap it loose.
