Head Light Techs question

I am contemplating doing a headlight switch with a Maxima. I can handle all the body work and what not but don't know if there is a way to split the high/low beam signals.

The headlights i would be getting would be a 3 bulb combo. one turn which i have a lowbeam head and then the lowbeam head. So thats a 3 bulb system where as the 2000 protege only has a 2 bulb system. I think I would have to somehow split the low beam/high beam wires around to hook into different harnesses that go into the light.

Anyone have any ideas?

My thoughts would be testing the wires going into the factory protege headlights with a DMM to see which wires fire up when my highs are hit. then pulling those wires that fire up only during high beam use and hooking them up to a new connector and then onto the projection hi-beam bulb.

Ideas needed on how to wire would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I dont know much about this but im pretty sure that on the headlight harness (H4) there are 3 wires, I am guessing one low beam, one high beam and one constant. So I think you would have to split the constant to 2 and have one go to the high beam and one to the low beam, remember I am no expert I am just trying to help. Maybe someone else can clarify this more.

You'd be best off if you could get your hands on a wiring diagram. If there are only three wires for the pro, one should be ground, one probably turn signal, and the other, headlights. My guess would be that before the headlight switch, there is a split in the wire going to two different resistances. Then, when you switch between High/Low, it moves a switch from the low resistance to the high resistance. Are you following? Therefore, only one lead wire is needed for the headlights at the connector.

If that's the case, you'll have to go all the way from under the dash, most likely, and split the wires up there to get the necessary four wires for the new connectors.
