hey i hate to ask this question here but i must i figure you folks are edumacated..i was reading the paper today and came across a 93 miata 1.6 5spd soft top..i went to check it out and had a sit down with the guy, basically he's asking $900usd there is somethings wrong ill ask you what you think

for the last 2 monthes he has been trying to get it to pass de emissions, he claims that the mechanic told him it may need lifter adujustment..what i was told is that it blows out a greyish blue mixture of smoke..not like sea foam steam bad but like early morning its freaking cold bad...i didnt notice when i started it any coolant temp changes, it didnt over heat and it warmed out to proper temp..i checked coolant and it seems fine and the oil is well normal no watery anything..
any ideas on this i know its hard to figure out from what im telling you, but to me i sounds like a sea foam treatment is needed and an egr cleaning..any help on this one....btw this would trun into my new project car : (..sorry but the pro is a auto and the miata is standard with a rear drive..

 

Sounds high mileage. No miracle cure works for long.
Unless you are doing a engine rebuild - i would walk away...

 

i did walk away i picked up 1993 thunderbird supercharged 3.8 coupe!! i think the head gaskets on it way out but hey for $700 i think i robbed the guy im going to swap out the gaskets this weekend and enjoy a nice little ride 12psi 215hp and 315 tq

 

just so you know, a blueish grey smoke from the exhaust means the car is burning oil and has an internal oil leak, possibly a gasket or whatever
