Another MX-3 Topic
My sister is looking to sell her 94 MX-3 V6 5 speed, and I was the first person she asked. She lives about 5 hours away so I can't easily testdrive it.
Has anyone personally driven one of these and able to give info on how peppy it feels? It seems like for such a small car that a V6 could get it around pretty quickly.
I'm mostly intersted because I could get potentially get it very cheap, since 1. She's my sister, 2. It needs new gaskets (a common problem with the V6's) and a paint job. Besides this it's in great condition. The gaskets I could put on myself, and the paint job I could have done for the price of only the paint (a deal with my old boss, who regularly paints his own restored cars).
Thanks for any info.

I've replaced head gaskets before, on older and much simpler engines before. But if it looks like it's gonna be a major bitch, then I can just buy the gaskets and get a local shop, instead of the dealership, to replace them pretty cheaply.
But it looks like me and a friend are driving to NC this weekend and picking it up. If I decide I don't want to keep the car, I could probably sell it and make a profit.
Thanks for your responses.

Keep in mind, the mx3 has the smallest v6 ever used in a production car (1.8 liter!) ALthough with a KLZE swap like mine, they are fast as ****, and that swap is easy and inexpensive.

I've heard of 2.5 MX3's - is that from a KLZE swap you're talking about?
(Sorry, haven't done a whole lot of research on the car yet)

The v6s rock.. bit heavier than the i4s but the suspension is sounder out of the box... Yeah if the head gasket is blow i wouldnty pay that much just check ya stuiff do a compression test onthe motor..
there are sevral motors you can swap two most popular being the kl03 (america mx6/probe v6) or the jspec klze.. both of which are easy to do...

Yeah basically the way it goes is the more money you need to spend to make it run right the less its worth.. that is how i got a protege for 50$ =]
granted it has one mid sized dent two windows that needed replacing needs brakes cv axels one heck of a cleaning and the tranny is on its way out... but hey it runs and the motor still pulls strong =]
