Auto dimming/compass mirror update
Our dealer ordered the auto dimming mirror which is an available option not on our new P5 when we bought it. Install was quoted at 9/10 hr. After waiting approx 45 min. tech. said it'd be approx. 3 hrs. + It seems there are no provisions on the stock wiring harness to add the mirror. They would have to route a wire through a gromet in the firewall, route the temp. sensor up to the front bumper, drop the headliner and run the wires down the "A" pillar to the fuse box etc. I wasn't crazy about the mirror after looking at it anyway. I thought it'd be like the GM mirrors that have a green display in the mirror itself. This had the display along the bottom edge of the the mirror. I've never seen the mirror on a P5, but the idea sounded good! Has anyone done their own install? We decided to cancel the install. and give it some thought. Someone on Ebay has an auto dimming mirror by Gentex with LED map light, and the temp/direction display in green in the mirror portion. It's around $240.00, perhaps more later.

Man those techs are just lazy. But I'm getting one for Christmas I believe. I don't mind how it looks but would rather have one of those consoles on the ceiling instead of having the compass/temp on the mirror itself. I was looking at the system on the Grand Cherokee and you can change all kinds of **** with it. Every car should have that.
