The shock sensor has a sensitivity adjustment on it. I found mine under the dash on the drivers side. Just turn the **** counter clockwise to decrease sensitivity. I turned mine all the way down, I hate when alarms false all of the time.

I think it is a ridiculous option to buy, I hate mine. It is the car's horn, and the option is $200.

I asked for fully loaded and this is the one thing I would have removed.

Okay I'm confused. I had Mazda's factory alarm installed and there was no "shock option". There is a control box for adjusting the sensitivity and I had to play with that to figure out the level. Did you get the install instructions? That was included when I picked up my car. Yes it is connected to the car horn and the control is the regular key fob so no extras involved there. Cost looks to be aout the same with the exchange rate. I like mine and now that I changed the horn I think it is even better.

Sorry to confuse things, the option is a PERIMETER ALARM ( option costs $220 USD), not a shock sensor. This is what is SO sensitive on my car. If it only went of when someone banged on the car or, god forbid broke a window, I would love it. Instead it goes of anytime a car with minimal exhaust noise passes my house.

Are there 2 different alarms? Mine will only go off if one of the doors or the trunk gets opened when the alarm is on. I read my alarm manual and nowhere did it say anything about adjusting sensitivity.

I didn't really want the alarm but it was the only ES they had. I also got the 6 disc changer which I could have lived without.

Dermen, if you have the Mazda alarm then you can adjust. Have a look under your dash. It should look like a small black box with a white **** on the side. This box is probably zip tied to a bunch of wires under the dash. That button adjusts the sensitivity. I have my install instructions and I can scan them and send them to you via email.

Thats weird I will have to look. The alarm manual says nothing about it. It does tell me that there is a button under the dash that will shut the alarm off if pushed with the key in the ignition incase the alarm is malfunctioning. Thats why I was surprised the manual didn't say anything about it.

There are 2 different alarms. The one with the shock sensor is the one that everyone complains about going off all of the time and has the sensitivity **** on the black box. Trust me I know I have the Peremiter Alarm and trust me I have look extensively for that damb **** and it is not there. I think that I am just going to buy a Pager Alarm with the remote start.

Found my little black box under the dash and turned the little white **** counter-clockwise until it stopped...... Haven't heard a peep from the alarm. Thanks for the help, and again I apologize for the shock sensor, perimeter alarm mix up!

lol not be a loser or anything but I'm confused about whether my car has an alarm on it or not. I have a 1999 Mazda protege Es and I have the keyless entry thing and the panic button and all. Does that mean that there is an alarm on the car or just a panic button in case someone attacks me? I know most people would think this is a stupid question but I'm curious. Thanks!
