Air Intake Help.

Hey
I was driving to school thursday and may CD player started to shoot out smoke and turn off. THen my check engine light also turned on. I check all the fuses and none of them are okay but my CD player is toast. I INstalled an air intake form ebay like a month ago and i never knew what to do with the sensor that is right beside the intake hole of the engine. SO i just left it alone but never put it onto the intak tube so its jsut sitting in the engine compartment. COuld this have caused my light to turn on. Also I know lotsa of you have the EBAy SRI and was wondering how put the sensor inside the tube. Because I want to put that it before i take the car to the dealer .Thanks alot.

wow, sounds like your cd player just fried. NO, the IAT sensor would not / could not have caused that to happen. That IAT (idle air temp) sensor is just used to measure the temp of the air going into the motor to adjust fuel slightly.

I'm curious as to how your cd player burned up THROUGH a fuse without breaking it.

I think that my deck fried because of humidity. It is a clarion, and my friend who also had a clarion deck also blew from moisture damage. It was pouring for 2 days strat before it happened. SO i htink it shorted out but yeahi don't know why a fuse didn't blow.
I'm just owndering if the cd blowing could have caused the check engine lite to turn on. thanks

hmm, any electrical disturbance could in essense trigger the CEL, ubt I'm not sure about what all is monitored or coded by the CEl.

I have a friend with a 2nd gen who lives in Maine. After changing his intake, and leaving the IAT out of the tube, his CEL came on due to excessive moisture on said sensor. It sounds stupid I know, but after a nice dry day and tapping into the pipe the light went away. ECU was reset by removing Negative terminal.

Yeah that the thing, and the moisture sounds right too because i had it out of the tube for like a month and it was fine until it rained really bad for 2 days straight and was realy humid. What"pipe" is involed in the tapping? I'm desparate because if i can't fix it, my dads taking it to a shop and then they say that its the intakes fault and he'll make me take it off. THANKS AGAIN
