E-Bay Intake????
What is all this I hear about the e-bay intakes? Are these brand name intakes you guys are buying off e-bay or is it a knock off? I looked it up and wasn't sure what I was looking for. I am planning on getting the Ractive SRI b/c of money issues and if these e-bay intakes are better i could go that way...someone please help me out.....what do i search for on e-bay?

I have the 'ebay' intake for the 00 proteges (1.6L) the brand names seemed to have taken care of the MAF and CEL problems. Though I put mine back on and I havent had much of a problem since. The 'ebay' intake is just a no-name brand intake for the cars. I didnt get mine from ebay I bought it off a member who got it of ebay. Search for mazda protege and a whole bunch of stuff will come up for the cars..narrow it by searching for mazda protege intake etc etc.

Same as motegi... i swear our cars are too much alike its scary heh.... Xcept I bought my off Ebay. It was easy to install just have to get a sealer to make sure ur MAF goes FLUSH with the metal bong for it. and clean it when u go to install it in the new one.

My Protege is the 2002 ES 2.0...I can't spend too much money on it b/c I am in the Air Force and it is obviously not about the money there. But I do want a few extra horses and I know this will help. Should I go with the Ebay intake or the Ractive intake?

i highly doubt anyone that has an intake has one made of "stainless steel"....they are all polished aluminum. Steel is heavy. I'm using all aluminzed steel in my supercharger kit because it's thicker and helps keep out all heat absorbtion normally seen in thinner aluminum.

Does anyone out there have a comparison between a CAI on the 2.0 liter vs. an SRI? I have the CAI and love it, but wonder if I'm getting the best performance I can out of my intake. It makes sense to me that a CAI would add a little power because it is bring colder, more dense air into the enjen, so there is better combustion, etc, but with the longer intake length compared to the SRI, I could see some loss in power at upper RPM's. Any thoughts? Any dyno charts?

actually with a CAI you'll see a little more low-end grunt than with a SRI but the SRI tends to have a little cripser throttle response. Buy the CAI and a nice monsterflow filter...it's a great filter...probably the best I've ever used.

i am with roddimus on this one. the ebay instake is polished aluminum. i also used aluminized steel for my custom turbo kit. its really about personal preference. i had a cai and sri, i notices the sri gave better throttle response and sounded meaner.

Ok...how does this sound...i get the ebay SRI then buy a K&N or Injen replacement filter. You think that will be good. What filter do you think is the best...K&N, Injen, etc.? And will these filters fit on to the pipe of the SRI?
