AEM Short Ram

Hey guys,
I've been reading through your posts. I have a 2000 1.8L and have just bought a short ram from final lap (I live in Ottawa). I paid $349, plus tax, so it sounds like you're getting a deal at Speed Style.

I'm pretty excited about installing the part. Will let you know how it turns out.

With all "talk" about MONEY.....nobody ever said anything about the HORSE POWER gain with the AEM short air ram?

Just what is the advantage in terms of horsepower and torque?

1.6 & 1.8 pod filter

originally posted by woody
does anyone know where i can find an intake for the 99 1.6 thats not an ingen??
well try emailing uniflow here in Australia as they have just released a rampod filter for 1.6 and 1.8..apparantly they have started to export this pod to the states but im not sure about the details..anyways the cost for the rampod is $175 australian dollars...which means it is about $90 us...i have no idea how much shipping costs are if you want to import from australia...so my suggestion is for everyone to email uniflow and let them know where you live and that u want the rampod..btw..it is not only a filter but a complete bolt-on intake..like the aem!

NEED HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

ok I waslooking into buying a Injen CAI, and now from reading all this, it seems to me that it ain't so great for the car. So now i'm wondering if I should pop in a AEM, but there's just one thing I noticed from the pics that I saw, is that the filter was pretty close to the fans and the headers, I don't know about you but heat is not what anybody is looking for. Anyway can someone please help me out, cause if AEM is better i'm gonna forget about the Injen and pop in an AEM.
Thanks
Eric

oops my bad!!!!!!

I made a mistake, the filter is not close the the headers at all, but yet it's still pretty close the the fans, and I just noticed it's close to the tranny also and the tranny gets pretty hot when racing and shifting quick, that still concerns me.

sorry

Okay think about it guys....LOOK at those pictures of the short ram.....look where the air filter cone is....its at the BOTTOM of the engine compartment.....if you think you are going to have a problem with sucking up water with an INJEN CAI....you will certainly have the same problem with the AEM. if you were to look where the cone filter ends up with the Injen, its in a pocket in the front fender well protected from the elements, AND away from the heat of the radiator, the transmission, the exhaust, and any other heat source from the engine compmartment, Personally I believe that the use of the bypass valve is a waste of time and money....unless you find yourself driving your car through a lot of water...deep water too. Not to mention the only way you are going to get water in there is to either be driving though some seriously deep water....or trying to wash your car with a 2 1/2 inch fire hose while the engine is running.

sorry...but I had to put in my .02

Question HP gain with AEM intake

No one has yet to answer the ALL important question, what kind of hp gain are we talking about here...........???????????

And if it's not more than 10 hp why not just spend $100 or so on a K&N filter?????????
