Question AEM Short Stack Intake?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the short stack is worth the money? How much hp can't it help produce...and if there will be a CAI from AEM?

aem intake

i am super happy with the aem intake. i paid 170 for it, and it is EXCELLENT quality. sounds good, performs well and is definately worth the money.

i talked with aem before i got it, they are not making a cold air intake, because for our engines, the short ram is the better performer. our ecu's don't read cold air, so you actually get a decrease in performance with the travel.

this intake also fit perfectly. no problems with the install, no error codes. in my book, get it.

AEM SHORTY

I noticed a difference with mine and agree with Benf000 that quality and performance is a plus. No errors with mine either. Install was basic. AEM told me the same thing, there was no Hp gain with the CAI!!!! Makes you wonder about the INJEN??????????

!7 Konig Toxxins
205/40R17 Kumho
Cool Blue Lows,Highs
Red Led Washer Nozzles
5% Tint All Around
A'PEXi 2.25" Custom Catback Exhuast
AEM Big Brake Kit
AEM Shorty Intake
Custom Yellow Dash
JVC head unit with Boston All Around, 3 JLaudio10w0, AlpineV12's
You have to realize that any given company has different amounts of money alotted for R&D. Also the amount of money can differ from car models and there expected sales. As the market is currently it would be likely that there is more money alloted for the Civic given the larger market and sales potential. So when a company says that they did not see a HP gain in a CAI you have to question the amount of R&D time or budget. Also you can not trust sales people (sales guy- oh so you are considering buying an injen CAI or AEM short ram) when AEM currently only has a short ram avalible - least amont of time on R&D for short ram- ( sales guy- well I will say what I can while we are on the phone to get you to buy or intake). Just a thought.

ahhhhhhhhh. but i had thought of that. so i went to the mazda dealer, where i know one of the mechanics there. and i got the same answer about the short ram. the CAI does not perform well on our engine. the short ram is the way to go.

I accually had not even considered the injen because of the Bypass valve[i think that is what they call it] that is needed for that application. I know a lot of people that run those[ or did]in there Hondas and many of them have fudged up there throttle bodies or had to dismantle there intake to get the guts[of the bypass valve] out of the intake. NO THANKS Not For Me!!!!!! but some people have different thoughts on this subject.that is just how I feel about it. Later on the road

bypass valve...

AEM had a recall on their bypass valve ~1 year ago, because pieces would come off. They have resolved that problem and any recently purchased valve should be fine.

Driving through lakes...

I'd agree with that. If it is such a problem, why not run a snorkel up the A-arm to the roof??

I love the intake. The install was easy and I love the new, meanier growl that it emitts. Here is s pic of it as well:

There is actually a piece of black plastic under the filter at the bottom of the engine compartment. It has a louver in it that diverts air right onto the filter. I noticed this when I was changine my oil the other day. AEM must have been thinking.
