Question aem intake and water ingestion

I have a 2001 pro es 2.0 and just installed the aem intake. I love it really revs faster now. But I was concerned about driving through deep puddles....can this intake suck in water and destroy my motor....has anyone heard about this happening on these intakes??

Yes it can suck in water! Be wise, don't take it through little ponds during major rain falls. Buy the bypass vavle for safety.

isn't the AEM intake a short ram style? it would be much harder to suck water into the short style in the engine bay than the the injun intake that sucks air from just a few inches above the road.

aem short ram intake

Yes, the AEM intake is the short ram...but still only about 5 inches from splash shield....I don't think I can install bypass...no room for it on the short ram.

My bad. The AEM is only a short intake. It can still suck in water however, just not as likely.
