I had the same noise problem on my MP5 untill I took the roof rack off. I think thats a general problem on all cars.

I have the moonroof. there is no noise or whistle when it is closed. however, when it is open, there is wind noise. what i do not like about it is...when you opwn the moonroof (having it slide back) there is that little black metal deflector that pops up...that piece of **** little black pop up deflector is what causes all the noise. when driving around with the roof open it has been noisy and by using my hand i pull down that pop up deflector and the noise is GONE! with it down there is more air rushing into the car (especially the back seat) but i can handle that...I would like to find a way of removing that black pop up deflector

any ideas? comments?

Lightbulb

Well, if you wanted to go for the redneck fix you could always duct tape it down. But im sure there are some screws you can remove to take it off. I think the nylon straps are held in place with watch pin type things. I guess we'll just have to look and see. Good luck.
another way to contact me

the catch with blocking that movement of the deflector is that at certain speeds it will cause some very violent wind buffeting inside the car... almost as if you get a standing wave going.. it is actaully audibly painful to the rear passengers and you should see how the head liner responds (starts to shake violently)... that's why I stopped pulling it down with my hand. The other solution to the problem (if the defelector is removed) is to open the rear windows about an inch or more.

HAHA!

Oh man...I wouldn've loved to have been in the car when you found out about the DISADVANTAGES to having that thing removed. Soundz like a funny story!

Thanx for the input!

Talking I did it!

I did it last night. The cross bars are off! I unscrewed the 4 screws at the end of the bars that hold the covers. You will see 4 nuts after removing the covers. Losen them and carefully pop out all the parts. Remember to move the two thingys that the rear cross bar was tied into (slide them forward and take them out through the big opening). Put on the covers and there you have it. Took me about 20 minutes. Be careful because you don't want to scratch your baby. The wind noise is greatly reduced!
