So your friend has a TRD supercharger. Big deal. The SS guy spent what he did on the supercharger and the SS guy would be taking on Porsche 911 Turbos.

Just a preemptive:

If you try and say his truck is naturally aspirated with the original equipment V6.

OK ... this thread is getting too macho!!!

First, most of my female friends drive manual. Among my 3 closest friends + myself, only 1 does not know & does not care about driving manual. All others have had manual cars throughout their driving life. So no more excuses with wives not driving manual.

Second, driving manual & holding the hand of your significant other are not mutually exclusive. Most of my guy friends will hold their gf's hand & the shift **** at the same time. Of course, you won't need to worry about manual or auto if you do mostly highway driving. So no more excuses with holding gf's hand.

I test drove a sportmatic today at the dealership while waiting for them to service my MP3. It is NOTHING like manual. Shifting up is OK, similar to having a hold button with an auto tranny. Shift down is pathetic as there is no control with the clutch & neutral whatsoever. In order to not get a big shock with shifting down, you basically need to tone down the tacho enough before you shift - do I smell auto somewhere? Frankly, I'd rather 'shift' with auto tranny with a decent hold function. (BTW, you cannot even do this with sportmatic - there are no gears below D, and the Benz-like shifter path is too complex.)
