I replaced my Tranny just recently with a New one from Mazda. 4000$ funded by the insurance company, but my question is what is an old one worth.

I replaced it due to the Oil change **** up, a while back was running pretty much fine but after the urging of others , I pressed my insurance company to go after the shop.

My insurance company said keep the old one if you want it. So its sitting in my garage.

Whats it worth? I am thinkin of keeping it around just in case, I am not expecting the new tranny to give trouble because its not a rebuild it came from Mazda as a certified build and tested. with a 40,000km warrenty with it.

Now the old tranny has about 160,000 clicks on it, and the only abuse i can account for is 10 km driving with a low level of tranny fluid. it did sleep during that time but it was never taken at high speeds.

either way its hard to guess how much wear occured , but i never had a failure nore did a code come up.

Anyones thoughts?

lol should i just keep it as a spare or a large door stopper
