Question 1.6L Intakes

I have a '00 pro 1.6L. So I was wondering where everyone has gotten an intake whether CAI or short ram for the 1.6 engine. The only one I can find is the expensive INJEN CAI. Also I was wondering how hard is it to get to the filter in a CAI to change it? Thanks for any help! JAke

I would just buy the cheapo ebay one for $40 like everyone else. Its the same as the INJEN one and you can put an INJEN filter on it if you really want to.

All the ones I see on ebay though are for the 1.8 or 2.0L engines. Unless I'm searching for the wrong thing.

there are some ebay CAI for the 2000 protege on ebay. You basically have to search through them though. I ordered one off a company based in Canada. It was throwin my CEL for awhile though but i RTV'd up the bong and put it back on there and cleaned up the MAF sensor and it works like a charm now.

WARNING a CIA on a 1.6 will cause a stutter between 2k and 2.3k rpms. so dont be afraid when it does this. I may get a sound bite of my intake because its a constant hiss and scares people when they hear me fire up my lil 1.6 and its none of that low stuff its a really load hiss as loud as a turbo that has spooled up but its a constant hiss at that level.
