I wana install an intake. Any advice? I went 2 dayton and the guy had one 4 $120. It was an hot one. i dont remember what brand. But the intake was not 4 my proteges. But the guy told me that 2 get an intake for my 90 mazda. It Was'nt gona be easy. if i buy the 120 one he said i could modify it 2 fit my car. Is that a good price or should i keep looking and where could i look? Or should i just see if i could install it on my car.

You have options.... anything from an adapter on eBay.... or something a little nicer.

i used an intake from a 92-95 Civic intake with two rubber adapters on each end. works nicely. you should be able to find one for around $70us.

i made my intake. bought the filter adapter for 20 bux, then bought two 90 deg. aluminum pipe bends for 20 a piece. i had to cut a little off of one end so it would clear the batt. , then drill a hole for the vaccum hose on another part but for the most part it was worth the time and came out alot cheaper than having one made.

Did you say that a 92-95 civic intake works on FIST GENS?? How about SOHC?? Oh GOD I hope so! If so, what kind of changes do you have to make on it? And those rubber adapters - are they easy to find and stuff?? This sounds too good to be true!!! Please respond! This would be so great! MAKE IT SO!!!

I just put a Ractive Heat Sheild cone intake on my pro....used an adapter to attach to the MAS.....and the end stuck in my fender wall....there is a hole right there....tomarrow i will tak some pics.....it works well....and it cost me 60 bucks canadian for it all...

The problem with Honda intakes is that they are a 3" diameter pipe, where 2.5" is best suited to our cars. Not to say the 3" will not work, it will. Just not at peak performance.

Honda intake = ~$60

JCW 2.5" U-bend pipe = $21
Home Depot adapters = $6
Cone Air Filter = $20
still cheaper than the Honda and it'll be the correct diameter.

(NOTE: the blue adapter is a 2.5" > 3" it's only needed if you have an RX7 VAF.)

tonyroma1-nope it wont fit 1st gens (to my knowledge).

mazdaspeedwest- your right. Civic's use 3" diameter pipe. thats what the rubber boots are for. they actually size down the tubing from 3" to 2.75" (close enough)

anyways, the whole setup cost me $40US. not bad if i do say so myself.

I don't know if one is made, but if you can try to get an Apex'i.
They have the highest flow and best filtration of all aftermarket filters. I;'ll post he independant study once i find it.

the Apex'i gave the highest HP gains while trapping the most contaminents.

Man, I was going to buy a 95 supra turbo manual, but my bro saw a 1994 RX-7 for sale. I decided to drive it. it blew me away. Way more race car like than the supra. the feel was so much better. the car was $7000 less too. So I bought the FD, has the engine rebuilt and ported, got downpipe, cat back and intake along with replacin leaky turbo cooling line. the car is faster than a stock supra , looks
Much better, feels like a race car (the supra does not come close in terms of feedback), and cost altogether $3000 less after all said and done.

At least try to drive an RX-7. you won't regret it.

I still love Supra's though.

dont get me wrong. i love RX-7's too. unfortunately, i dont love the rotary motor that comes in them. too much of a hassle to maintain.

ive just always loved Supra's. ever since i saw the first mkiv ive wanted one. and that was when i was 12

really with the money you save on the rx-7 you can easily "bulletproof" the engine. Any engine that is not well maintained will fail prematureley. on the RX-7 forums there are a many owners with well over 100,000 miles on there original engine, these are the guys that took good care of there engine.

The RX-7's weak link is really it's cooling system. just get a new high capacity radiator ( i have a koyo), replace the precat with a downpipe (this DRASTICALLY reduces underhood temps), and maybe add the crooked willow dual oil coolers. this would give your engine a much longer life!! it's all about just gettin the engine cooler and then you have no worries.

but if you really want that supra, go get it, you won't be sorry either way.
