so im getting a Intake soon and i always like Short Ram
so what do you all think and what you have to say about
Cold Air intakes?

CAI actually have a HP gain, short rams give a very little gain if any.

CAI woud be a better set up because you are sucking in cooler air (vs a short ram which sucks in warmer air) which is denser and provides more efficient combustion, thus helping increase HP.

You may want to keep in mind that if you go for the CAI, get one with a "bypass" valve. Without it you run the risk of potentially sucking in water on wet road and hydro locking your motor.

i driven my car through floods with my Injen CAI and never had a problem. IF the water so deep were you hydro lock an Injen water WILL be spilling into your interior.

There are two main issues with a CAI:
Hydrolock and accessibility for maintenance.

You can avoid hydrolock by staying away from deep water and installing a pre-filter designed to repell water.

Accessibility is a personal preference thing. Some people don't mind taking off their bumpter or wheel and wheel well liner to wash their filter. For others, it's a huge pain, so they just go with a SRI.

It's really up to you. CAI's have their drawbacks, but they typically give you more power. SRI's can get close to that power if they're in a cold air box that sheilds it from engine temps, but most SRI's don't have them.

My Brother in Law hydrolocke his Del Sol and he merleley went through a fairly shallow puddle. Type of vehicle and location of the Intake varies from car to car. A bypass valve just insures that it may not happen due to above variances.

That why i specified Injen, in regards to my MZ3. You hydro lock it, you got water in your cabin.

id go with a cai because as said before the risk of hydro locking is very low, unless you drive into a lake, if you happen to drive into a deep puddle, let off the gas and you'll be fine. and dont bother with a bypass valve as they can negate any gains from a cai
